Why is it so hard to say 'no' to my dog?
I was sitting here eating some string cheese, and Grover was sitting very politely about 2 feet away NOT 'begging' for any of it; in point of fact, when I'd look at him, he'd cast his eyes slightly downward, as if to say "No, no, you go ahead and eat it all, I'll just sit here and starve quietly while basking in the glow of your magnifence, My Lord and Master". Needless to say, guilt won out and I gave him a bite. *sigh*

Am I weak, or are dogs just really, REALLY good at 'guilt'?

1. Sounds like he's got your number, Paddy.
I'd plan on eating in the closet from now unless you're planning on sharing. :)

2. He's my big, furry baby.
Yeah, he can wrap me around his paw with a simple look, just like Tony can.

:P

5. Yeah, he has that whole cuteness thing going on.
Add in a heaping measure of 'sweetness' and a dollop of 'winning personality', and you have Grover.

:)

4. Because you speak English?
I tried to speak to my dog, but my barks just weren't nuanced enough. I could never get that extra inflection and slight upturn at the end of the bark to convey what I really meant. ;)

6. There was a PBS show a while back
that talked about the evolution of dogs, and a theory that by observing how humans doted on children, they developed mannerisms that approximate it in order to get humans to care for them.

But as for your dog, it looks like a simple case of hypnotic laser eyes.

14. he's trained you well
You feed him without the disgrace of having to beg. But what a cutie. I couldn't resist him either.

I had a Dachshund who used to do this cute pose. He would stand up, but with his butt still on the ground. He looked like a weenie dog totum pole. That combined with the fact his tongue was a little too long for his mouth and stuck up just a tad all the time was more cuteness than I could take. He knew all he had to do was strike the pose and I'd crumble. I miss Dudley.

Anyway, all that to say, I know how you feel. :P
