Check this out (Google Maps)
http://maps.google.com/

It's incredibly responsive...doesn't even seem like a webpage but rather like a local app! In the search bar above, you can enter addresses, or you can put in like "Los Angeles to New York" or "Address X to Address Y."

Pretty sweet!

2. Google's a bit late to the map game
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 03:15 PM by tridim
but you're right, it's pretty fast. I'm sure they'll dominate that segment within a short period of time.. The scrolling function is really nice. I hate how mapquest and yahoo maps has to redraw every time.

How long until people start Microsofting Google? They're at least as much a monopoly as Microsoft, yet everyone gives them a free ride. Hmmm..

6. It just shows how good they are.

Instead of rushing to the market like other corporations do, Google takes their time and makes sure everything is done right. (And even then, they clearly mark their more experimental products as BETA.)

I disagree that Google is a Monopoly. There is nothing to force me to use their search engine, and there are other products out on the market.

I like Google, they aren't evil... yet.

I'm weaning myself off all things MS. So far, so good. I only uise the MS OS.

7. If Microsoft were a true monopoly you couldn't switch OS's
;)

BTW, I'm not an MS apologist, but I don't think they're as evil as everyone claims. Everyone I know who works there absolutely loves it. Same with Google. They're both great companies to work for.

5. I like it.
I usually use MapQuest, but the next time I need to get somewhere I'll try it.

Pretty cool. Much nicer maps.
