Truth eating the Darwin Fish
Anyone see those things on the cars?
It's the response to the Darwin Fish which was
the response to the Jesus Fish.

So, the Truth Fish eats the Darwin Fish, thus proclaiming
that apparently Truth eats evolution.

If Truth eats evolution, and evolution thus becomes extinct,
does that not then prove survival of the fittest and hence
evolution?

Additionally, since the Truth fish came about as a predator
of the Darwin fish, which came about as a predator of the
Jesus fish, does that not also prove evolution?

1. True, except that...
"survival of the fittest" does not equate to "only the strong shall survive."

"Fittest" just means that organism which fits in its environment the best. Plenty of big, strong dinosaurs bit the big one 65 million years ago while our small rodent-like ancestors survived.

4. actually... fitness is a measure of offspring production
survival of the fittest means, the organism with the most progeny (who in turn create progeny, who in turn create progeny...) are the fittest.

Fitness, if my boilogy class knowledge hasn't failed me, relates specifically to production of offspring that reach successful breeding age.

7. Agreed
And the brave rodents were clearly more "fit"
to survive than the large dinosaurs.

Fit doesn't mean strong, for if it did, I'd surely have
expired long ago.

So the question becomes, can the Darwin Fish survive the
bloody onslaught of the Truth Fish? Or will a new improved
Darwin Fish evolve that will feed upon the Truth Fish?

13. It's eating the Jesus Fish
I'm much more concerned about this super Truth Fish.

I worry that the Darwin Fish and this new Reality Bites Fish
are competing over the same dwindled supply of the Jesus Fish.
Meanwhile, the Truth Fish roams free with no predators, eating
all the Darwin Fish its vast appetite can abide.

14. I don't like either type of fish
As for the Darwin fish, I've known more than one Social-Darwinist to display these.

3. The fact that we need to eat
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 10:16 AM by soupkitchen
Seems like a pretty good argument for evolution to me.
Why would God make creatures that have to eat?
I don't think that the notions of God and Evolution are incompatible but obviously there are biological imperatives at work here.

a Darwin fish on their car ripped off? Pretty cheap retaliation by narrow-minded people, if you ask me.

10. I have had 3 sets of stickers and fish stolen from my car
Keep in mind I use magnetic backings so I can change them around. But over the years I have been keyed, had WWJD jewlry dropped on my car, 3 sets of stickers stolen, one set of stickers moved to the side of my car, 10 bibles left on my trunk (one single incident), and followed into parking lots and evangelyzed on a couple of occaisions which I managed to turn into a bible awareness training session for the fundie in question.

8. As a side note...
every time I see one of those Jesus fish I laugh my ass off. They are hilariously funny if you know the origins of the symbol. Originally it was a pagan symbol, and its oritntation was rotated ninety degrees...it was supposed to be representative of the sacred vagina of the Great Mother. Many of the ancient mystery cults had a large version of same through which initiates would pass, in a ceremony known as being "born again".

I must find out more about the Ignorance Fish. Although
it may come to my dismay that this seldom seen Ignorance Fish
is perhaps the most abundant of them all.

20. Not the same type of fish, but I liked Douglas Adam's take on it::
"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

"Oh that was easy," says Man, and for an encore proves that black is white and gets himself killed in the next zebra crossing.

21. Evolved
One point I think that everyone is missing about the “Truth” fish eating the “Darwin” Fish is that it can only happen in water. The “Darwin” fish, being evolved, can escape the sea of faith and breathe the fresh air of logic.
I would love to have little cards explaining this metaphor to leave on the cars of those with the “Truth” fish eating the “Darwin” Fish.

22. The Rush Fish
This is a very dangerous fish that will devour smaller and intellectually inferior fish who do not have the capacity to make adequate decisions. Once the smaller fish have been bitten, the venom (which consists of a mixture of Oxycotton and other narcotics) will enter into the brain of the smaller fish and therefore will render it in a perpetual state of mimicking the Rush fish.

When threatened, the Rush fish attacks by being able to defecate in large quantities from it's mouth. While very manipulative, the Rush fish can easily be thwarted by facts and good hygiene.

In response to felonius thunk's comment, the Rush fish would enter into the fray with the Darwin Fish and declare that it is a liberal conspiracy.

24. I don't like the sounds of the Rush Fish
There are already too many predator of the Darwin Fish
and now we have to worry about the Rush Fish?

Hopefully intelligence will continue to be an asset
as the evolutionary chain moves forward and the Rush
Fish will do things to prove it's severe lack
of intelligence and will be rendered irrelevant.

It's just a good thing that the Darwin Fish is
so strong.
And is able to overcome all these predators.

25. It's simple
The Truth fish, in devouring the Darwin fish, seeks to add the Darwin fish's knowledge to its own, thus increasing its wisdom. Who says it has anything to do with religion?
