NOT "Dog(s) On The Run...plural...from "Southern Accents." It's a different song.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' first album was frigging HUGE.
Legendary San Francisco FM station KSAN (and I'm sure many others across the U.S.A.) had a copy of a vinyl 1-sided "authorized live bootleg" (called "Official Live 'leg, Recorded Dec 12, 1976 at Paul's Mall, Boston) which featured:
Chuck Berry's "Jaguar & Thunderbird"
Fooled Again
Luna
Dog On The Run
I was lucky enough to buy a copy at the late, GREAT Palo Alto record store "Chimera Records." Some of the lyrics:
"Sittin' downtown waitin' for the number to be called,
See you in the alley outside against the wall
Now I don't think you realize, baby
What one little kiss can do
I would really love to make you understand honey,
But I can't get close to you
Said, better stop it
Look at what you've done,
Try to keep me livin' like a dog on the run..."
It had a spacy extended jam in the middle, and the beginning and end rocked hard and furious. It was played to DEATH...justifiably so...on KSAN.
Anyone ever heard it?
