I'm coming out of the closet...no, not that closet.

I am a proud Roman Catholic. I will follow Jesus and the Church before I will follow any party or individual. The Pope, when speaking ex cathedra is infallible. I am a member of the Church founded by Jesus, who annointed Peter as his kepha upon whom the Chruch was built.

3. Happy you are happy but the Pope's ex cathedra views put people at risk
'It's bad enough to argue that condoms are against God's will while millions die. But to maintain, falsely, that they are ineffective in order to discourage their use is truly immoral. If not insane.'

4. you know that the last time ex cathedra was used was in 1950s
when they declared that the Virgin Mary was assumed into heaven.

5. I always took it to mean his teachings/rulings. Whatever.
The Latin phrase Ex Cathedra, literally meaning "from the throne (of St Peter)" is applied in Catholic theology to statements made by the pope in his capacity as infallible guide and teacher of the faithful. A papal statement made ex cathedra is said to be protected by the Holy Ghost from all error. However, difficulties often arise when Catholic theologians disagree about whether or not certain statements have been made ex cathedra and when Catholic theologians accept that a statement has been made ex cathedra, but nevertheless disagree about precisely what this infallibly true statement means.

6. I support your coming out fully.
I not a Christian (I'm a New Though Religious Scientist), but I respect you for standing by your faith.

I assume we might disagree on some things, though.

I like to see a variety of faiths (or lack thereof) under our big tent.

On edit:
I can say one thing for sure. NONE of my Catholic/Roman-Catholic friends has ever been 'in your face' with me - in the sense of putting me down if I don't believe the same thing they do. Now, my Southern Baptist rigid-right relatives ...

That William Donahue isn't very nice, though. Disavow his fanatical hateful statements, please. Just kidding.

12. I am too.
I am recently getting back to being involved with my Catholic roots, and have come to 1 conclusion. This is not only where I want to be, but where I need to be, to be happy with myself. Glad to see the post.
