In case you missed yesterday's tale about Miz t. and the Mardi Gras parade in Fairhope, Alabama:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=2532819&mesg_id=2532819She got home around 9:30, apparently sober and in full control of her faculties, and reported that it was a fun evening.
The Haul:
(These are called "throws", because they are thrown from the floats by the various costumed parade krewes/participants. The familiar cry is "Hey Mister! Throw me somethin'!")
Approx. 3 dozen strings of beads, mostly gold, purple, and green; the "Official" Mardi Gras colors.
2 standard Moon Pies (The "Official" Mardi Gras snack cake.)
http://www.moonpie.com/1 Mini Moon Pie
1 chocolate brownie cookie ( plastic wrapped)
1 small piece of "bubble-gum" flavored candy(?)
1 small piece of grape flavored candy
1 small bag of roasted-in-the-shell peanuts (approx. 8 nuts)
Half a dozen "doubloons" (gold, purple, or green aluminum "coins" stamped with the float's theme on one side and the name of the krewe on the obverse)
And last, but not least...an 8" long purple plastic cigar with simulated gray ash on one end and a white tip on the other. "Big Shot" is printed on the red and gold band. I have no idea what it's "for". Possibly a 6 oz. flask?
Everything except the Moon Pies was made in China.
The Moon Pies were made in Chattanooga.
End of report.
