Elderly Woman Left Dangling From Drawbridge
Drivers Had To Alert Drawbridge Operator

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- A 79-year-old woman who was left dangling from a drawbridge in Florida says that, other than some bruises, she escaped unharmed.

Helen Koton said she didn't hear any warnings before the bridge she was walking across in Hallandale Beach, Fla., started opening up beneath her Friday.

Koton said she was about halfway across when it happened.

She says she had to hold on to a railing while the bridge opened all the way. Shocked drivers had to alert the person running the drawbridge, who lowered the span after several minutes.
