I can paint, write and take photos, but I've always wanted to sing.

Nor can I act or play a musical instrument. I just realized lately I sort of take the talents I do have for granted.

How about you?

8. I think i know what you mean.
I think I might be dabbling too much in too many areas, so that I can never seem to have success in one.

BTW I can also add computer skills to my wish list of techniques I lack.

6. Doctor, Doctor! Will I be able to play the piano after my operation?
(ba-dum-bah!)

Yes, piano, I've always pictured my fingers carressing the ivories like Billy Joel, but when I sit down to play only chopsticks comes out.

Nor can I paint or draw. So frustrating when the beautiful vision in my head looks like a talented 5-year-old did it when I put it to paper.

Finally, I've always wished I had any mathematical talent at all.

7. I am a musician
and wish so much that I could sing. I can sing the right notes, sing in tune but damn I can't do it and sound good to save my life. I always wanted to be Joni Mitchell.

13. Not really
I can do a lot of things and never had problems learning how to do it. As for "talent" I guess I just accepted my limitations on the things I have learned and happy with it that way. I know I am not that great at the things I do, but I do it for myself and I don't get hung up on impressing people.

15. I can draw and write, but I have virtually no musical talent.
I can play the piano like a second year student, though. ;)

20. I tend to write dark stuff.
I do light "every woman" type pieces too, but I seem to do best at darker or more serious themes. Someone once told me that was indicative of a "diseased" mind. :eyes:

23. My stuff is sort of unclassifiable
usually whimsical satire with some dark edges, I just don't know if it's fantasy fiction or regular fiction. Also all my stories over lap, If I ever finish writing them all it will be something like a 10,000 page novel.

16. The same ones you've listed
Believe me, I tried. I know what I can do, but it's still a disappointment.

Here's an example: I took acting classes when I was in University. I recall doing a scene with someone when I had a moment of clarity and realized I would never be as good as I wanted to be, and I didn't love it as much as I needed to, to be able to succeed. Especially with acting, you have to just love being able to do it in addition to having talent. I never took any acting classes again. It doesn't stop me from appreciating good acting skill; on the contrary it makes me enjoy it more.
Same goes for singing, dancing. I can fantasize about being a great performer all I want, but not knowing how bad or mediocre you are and still trying isn't just embarrassing--it's tragic. I watched American Idol last week. All of those people who said they had the drive, the determination, the talent--and then just debased themselves. One can argue how poor an example that show is for showcasing talent, and I can agree on many points, but sometimes you just have to search elsewhere.

17. Sound a lot like me as a teenager...
I used to spend hours in my room, pretending I was a rock star. I'd go to high school musicals wishing it was me up on the stage, I could just never do it, I'm much too introverted.

HELL NO! Don't need the humiliation, thanks very much. I'd prefer to fantasize, thanks. It always works out better, anyway.

BTW, lipsyncing to a lightbulb, as in Blue Velvet or Ally McBeal works really great. Just don't let anyone catch you. You'll never live it down.
