McDonald's advertising. Is it me or...
are they solely targeting minorities now? I've seen their ads now and it's sort of obvious.

Just curious.

4. They've always done that
Historically, their commercials typically only have one group in them.
Caucasian OR African-American OR Hispanic

You will rarely see folks mixed-up as is the case in the real world.

You are right in the observation that they seem to be targeting minorities more aggressively. They don't even sponsor a NASCAR team anymore.

5. I actually do not know.
I am so tuned out to McDonald's commercials, I have no idea what's in them these days.

6. I used to be an advertising manager for them
And I can tell you what it means. It means they need sales and are willing to hype one target audience over another.

African-Americans frequent fast food restaurants more than any other ethnic group.

If there is more advertising oriented toward African-Americans, it means they are hyping sales to their most frequent customers.

Now, want to hear something really sick? I don't know about McD's but Burger Kings that are in cities are higher priced than the ones in the suburbs. That's because they know people will drive to a less expensive
fast food restaurant but they won't walk to a less expensive one.

11. Grocery stores do that too
I used to work in a low income area, and one time I decided to stop at their local grocery on my way home to pick up a few things. WOW was I suprised by the prices!!

8. Yeah, they definitely are.
The one with the drumline, especially. It isn't a terrible commercial really, but the pandering is pretty obvious.

10. Tobacco is horrible like that!
I mean, tobacco companies hardly have any place that they can advertise, but they can still give out promotional materials for local stores to put in their windows. I'm in an urban area and all these lil Mom & Pop corner stores are filled with Tobacco ads in the window. And yet I go visit a friend's house just 10 miles out in the suburbs and you hardly see a sign.

I don't speak like that, and I don't frequent the golden fatted arches so they definitely aren't speaking to me.
