Having trouble "cutting and pasting" Help please...
After I highlight and click copy on something and then click paste onto the post form - nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

2. Sometimes
for whatever reason web pages won't allow you to right click. When I've came across it, I highlight my text, hit ctrl-c to copy and then ctrl-v to paste.

6. When you are using the mouse are you supposed to RIGHT CLICK?
I have always used left click to paste. I don't think I have ever used right click for ANYTHING..

I am copying your advice about the keys to use though. Thanks a lot.
:)

9. Hmmm,,
I don't know, I use my left mouse button to highlight and then use my right mouse button to copy and paste. I guess it depends on how your system is set up? Anyways, glad I could help! :)

3. You might have to use notepad
Sometimes the copy/paste doesn't work -- HTML conflicts seems the most likely reason.

When that happens I paste to notepad and then copy the text and paste in the form.

11. Something else I don't know...
I am on a nameless pc that my daughter built out of all new parts when she fancied herself a computer expert. When it didn't work too well, she bought herself a laptop and gave this thing to me. No manuals, nothing....

This is my first time with a mouse that has a right and left click. (I am a Mac Devotee, but my Performa is too old now.)

The software on the PC is Word 1998

So...where is the notepad? How do I access it while online?

13. Notepad should be under accessories in the Start Menu....
Its a crappy text editor, let me put it this way, in Windows 1.0 Notepad was there, and it was limited to 20k of memory due to hardware limitations. After 20 years, it is STILL limited to like 20k or so. Talk about aggravating.

7. You lost me..
with "first disregard cut." What is that? Cut, I mean

I have been highlighting and then using the mouse to click "copy" from the aol toolbar menu. It is only after that that I have problems and get no results when I try to paste.

8. OK, STOP USING AOHELL for web browsing...
and second, do not use its little toolbar for anything either. First select the text you want to copy. Right click with the right mouse button. A menu comes up, then select "Copy" from that menu. Then, on the form you want to copy it to, right click again where you want it, then hit "Paste" on the menu. It should work.

10. Hey! It works!...
Thanks a lot - I just tried it and sent myself an email with your post on it. Now I have to try it between threads on DU.

I've been using a computer for about 10 years, and I am totally self-taught so I haven't been too experimental. I mean, if I found something that worked, I didn't venture far from it. That is why all of this is new to me right now.

12. No problem....
I'm self taught myself, but a tinkerer as well. I crashed so many systems, its not even funny, but it was and always is a learning experience. I was able to crash Windows XP the first day I got it, I thought that was an accomplishment. :)

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to crash my newest system yet, Linux, I've been trying for weeks, to no avail, I'm sad dammit, I want to see the Linux version of the BSOD(Blue Screen of Death).

14. Hey Solon
Since you're a linux user I thought I would ask for my son...Do you play Half Life 2 and if so have you managed to get it to run on Linux? He's beating his brains in over this and is determined to get away from that "axis of evil known as Microsoft". LOL! Anyone? He would love me forever and a day if I found out a solution to his beloved HL2.

15. I don't have it, unfortunately...
I know Doom3 has a linux installer on it, I would check on the 'net and see, maybe, if it doesn't have an installer on there for you, or at least the binaries. I looked, it looks like the best bet is to get Cedega 4.2, it simulates a windows enviroment so that certain games can run. Its full speed as far as I'm aware of, so tell him to try that out and see if it works. Here's their website:
