I can tell Verizon to kiss my ass--charging $45 just for basic local service only. Not any more!

2. What happens when the cable goes out, and there's an emergency?
I've always wondered that.

4. I have a cell phone, my partner has a cell phone
and my cable goes out even LESS than my phone service, just judging by the past 10 years of service.

5. Did I get to keep my own current phone number? (asks self)
Yes I did! Same number and THEY will deal with Verizon on that.

6. 25 bucks a month--land lines can kiss my butt!
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 04:55 PM by tjdee
Haven't had to use 911 yet, so I'm a tiny bit concerned there, but I LOVE my phone bill.

Which also gives me reason to justify my cable modem and that POS bill. Vonage plus my cable connection are about equal to what I'd pay for just a land line.

Oh, uh, a question: do you feel like telling everyone you know to get it right now? I did when I got it.

7. My service will include 911 service
but I also have my cell phone too.

Yes--I do feel like telling everyone about it--I'm thinking not everyone knows how you can keep your same phone number and use your same phones.

8. And it's just so much cheaper.
I do have 911 service, but it's kind of weird--I don't live in a technologically together area though. Was happy to be able to get as much as I did!

I've been finding that people have questions like, what if it goes out, what is the sound quality like, is it hard to set up, etc. These companies would do fantastically if they had informational sessions in malls or something.

11. Yeah, mine is from Time Warner too, from Durham NC--
I've had no trouble from their broadband internet service, so I thought I'd try the phone service too.

Time Warner has an excellent FAQ on their phone service, which finally served to convince me to take the leap:

10. I've had same for about a year
and I love it. One bill, local vendor AND cable internet! All cheaper than dialup, Cable and Phone charges from three carriers. What's not to like? :)

12. Excellent!

It's nice dumping Verizon has my local land-line carrier--they were so nasty in their customer service dept. Now they can go take a jump in the lake.

13. When my cable went out
I still had my phone service. I pay 25.00 monthly with voice mail. I don't have call waiting or caller id. No way do I need call waiting, if people call me they can still leave a message as there are no family emergencies that are a priority for me. I'm not a long talker so no worry at my end.

15. If my cable goes out (which is rare) I'll still have phone service too!
My cell phone, which has gotten me through some instances where my PHONE service was out.

And I don't have to worry about long distance at all!
