17. I'm really glad there are other DU'ers who've also noticed that.

In the weeks right up to the election, I spent countless hours on both GD and GD04, where most people were completely caught up in mindless cheerleading for Kerry and had lost any and all ability to critically assess the campaign situation. It was completely counterproductive to our cause, and the worst part of all of this was the tendency of people to shout down anybody who dared suggest that maybe, just maybe, it might actually be possible for Bush to win and Kerry to lose.

I haven't been back on GD since Election Day. In fact, I left DU completely right after the election and only last week did I finally return to the Lounge -- which is where I intend to stay from now on (okay, I'll also make occasional visits to the Meeting Room forum too).

It's often pointed out (rightly IMO) that online political forums, both left and right, have a tendency to degenerate into circle-jerk echo chambers which are completely closed off to any even-remotely dissenting views. I think GD is a perfect example of this.
