1. I would report him.
He has a boss. I would find out where to file a complaint and follow through.

2. I was going to post that the mgr could be helping the book.
From freeping freakazoids defacing it or something, so he puts it far to the top...you can see it but can't touch it. But since you said employees scramble, that may not be the case.

3. Where did this happen? My local B&N usually goes...
out of their way to display recently released Left and Right political books with equal prominence, so as to avoid complaints about that kind of bias.

12. That definitely sucks, but as somebody else posted...
that RW manager has a boss above him on the corporate ladder.
If RW dickwad is going out of his way to piss off the customers, maybe HIS boss should know about it. Just an idea.

16. the store managers don't do the ordering
it's done corporately.

Not that it excuses what the dickweed did with BC's book, but I am not sure you can blame him for the Manga. I work for B&N's competition, and I know that for awhile it was hellish to keep the Manga stuff in stock.

17. Mine does, too,
they're very good about that. It's actually kind of interesting to see, they'll have a display of liberal books and right next to it will be a display of conservative books. The local Borders does that as well, I don't see any political bias in either store. That's what I would do if I were a bookstore manager, so as to avoid any complaints over bias.

4. Well, B&N donates some to the repuke party...
Last time I checked, Borders donated 100% to the Blue party. www.buyblue.org

(okay, B&N only donated 2% to the repukes... but still, they did. They're not blue. They're purple.)

5. it could have been a customer; i've seen as bad at my Borders
you should complain to the employees and management.

or just take them out yourself and put them on the ground.

7. Could it be some dickwad customer messing with the displays?
Customers moved things around all the time when I worked retail. I wouldn't necessarily blame the employees, including the manager.

14. While I applaud your efforts to keep porn shielded from innocent eyes,
I feel sorry for the poor employee who has to pick up after you. I worked retail as my third job--behind single motherhood and perma-temp secretarial gigs. The last thing I wanted to do was stay after closing because customers had torn the store apart and my crazy store manager wouldn't let us leave until the store was in perfect condition for the next morning's opening. Sorry, Dude.
