Man Breaks Record by Eating M&M's With Chopsticks
<snip>

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Three minutes after Jim Hager started eating M&Ms with a pair of chopsticks, he was headed for the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 47-year-old Oakland resident gobbled 115 M&Ms in 3 minutes Sunday, breaking a previous record of 112 Smarties consumed by Kathryn Ratcliffe of England in December 2002.

The new record won't become official until event organizers send documentation to the Guinness association, including a videotape, photographs and written declarations from witnesses, but it seems likely he'll have his place in the list.

For his efforts, he received 25 pounds of M&Ms courtesy of a local candy store that sponsored the event.

1. They should rename the Guinness Book of World Records.
Seems like calling it the Big Book of Amazingly Useless, Stupid, Freakish and Overbearing Achievements would be more accurate...

4. Totally agree.
When I was a kid, the records were all about the tallest person, the biggest person, the fastest animal, etc. Why the f*ck does it matter how many M&Ms you can eat with chopsticks?

6. But was he hungry an hour later?
I thought the point of M & Ms was that you could eat them with your hands because there was no chocolate mess. Why use chopsticks?

7. M&M and Smarties = Apple and Oranges??
I mean, isn't there a difference? I can pick whichever candy I want to try to break the record? Seems odd...

Uh, can I have a pound of those M&M's, Jim? Mmmmm..M&Ms! :9

10. I'd choose gummi bears with chopsticks
They're easier to grab, kinda stick together anyway, and it would be fun squeezing the life out of them a little before you ate them. :9

8. OK, I'll admit...
I couldn't eat a single M&M in three minutes with chopsticks! I just tried, and it's going to take me a while to clean-up the M&M's from off of the floor, under my desk, behind my computer, etc..

9. I remember when world records were STILL world records
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 09:42 AM by Born_a_Democrat
Fastest land vehicle, tallest building, deepest dive...

not this BULLSHIT that passes for world records today like:
Longest pubic hair still attached, most boogers blown through a tissue in a minute, most flamable fart and of course can't forget most crap eaten in a decade on TV by any country (which of course goes to the US)
