Deion Sanders on Randy Moss--cracked me up
" is like a beautiful woman who can't cook, doesn't want to clean and doesn't want to take care of kids," Sanders said during an appearance on Sporting News Radio. "You really don't want her, but she's so beautiful that you can't let her go. That's how Randy is. You have to take the good with the bad. "Unfortunately, when the bad is bad, it's really bad. But there's so much good, you can look past it."

1. Shows what Deion thinks of women
Didn't Deion have a little tweensy-weensy cocaine problem at one point in time? Pot, meet kettle.

6. I think it's a rather poor analogy
But that's because I don't expect a woman to do all the cooking, the cleaning, and the taking care of the kids.

7. Look at the key words...
"Can't" & "doesn't want to"

8. I looked at the key words
I don't care if a woman can't cook. And the language of "can't cook, doesn't want to clean, and won't take care of the kids" certainly implies an expectation.

In the analogy, there are two factors of Randy Moss. One is his natural talent, and another is his attitude. The analogy compares talent to beauty (rather than intelligence, compatibility, etc.) and attitude to her willingness and ability to do domestic chores. I don't think that's a good analogy.

10. Beauty IS a characteristic of talent...
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 02:48 PM by Darknyte7
And you can argue this point too, but there are a lot of people in the fashion & entertainment industries that discovery new talent everyday on that basis.

It's a base analogy, I'll admit, but I didn't say it was a "perfect" or a "great" or even a "good" analogy. But I still think it's fairly decent.

9. eh, the cooking would be a shame, by why should anyone
be expected to ~want~ to clean, and who wants to look after kids? :hurts:

11. If I must connect the dots for you...
I guess I can now that I'm at home.

Before we begin however, let me first say that I recognize that Deion's analogy was indeed sexist. But we are talking about Deion "Must be the Money" Sanders... While I credited Deion with what I termed supra in post #3 as a "decent analogy", I personally do not advocate, ratify or endorse Mr. Sanders speech.

That having been said, Deion is said to have said :

"(Randy Moss) is like a beautiful woman who can't cook, doesn't want to clean and doesn't want to take care of kids," Sanders said during an appearance on Sporting News Radio. "You really don't want her, but she's so beautiful that you can't let her go. That's how Randy is. You have to take the good with the bad. "Unfortunately, when the bad is bad, it's really bad. But there's so much good, you can look past it." See post #1, emphasis added

Randy Moss is consider broadly to be one of the best five players in the NFL. He is that despite the fact that he has been noted to take plays off, isn't really even a good blocker, regarded as selfish. Despite those character flaws, he's the best receiver in the game. His season & career numbers are f*cking ridiculous.

Now a person, much less a woman, in a relationship that can not cook places the burden on their partner in a domestic situation to do what cooking gets done. The partner may accept that burden, but it is a burden nonetheless. Now if this same person doesn't want to (ideally) at least help keep the house clean, and doesn't want to take care of children, what is this person doing to contribute to the relationship?

"help" to Deion's comments
