Seen "The Village"? Worth renting?
Seemed to get mixed reviews. I guessed the hook already, but if it's watchable, I'd consider it for viewing this weekend. Thanks.

1. i'd say so,
i enjoyed it, but i think that's because i "figured it out" before everyone else.

2.  I know it got panned by the critics
but I kind of liked it. Certainly worth a rent. There is a good twist near the end I never saw coming.

Not a thing wrong with Joaquin Phoenix either.

I had it figured out, but I'm kind of good at that. It's really an interesting movie.

4. Apparently, it's very popular.

I tried to rent it at the local Blockbuster tonight and there wasn't a copy left, which is weird for a Wedneday.

6. Once you have seen one of this directors films..
you have seen them all. Pace of the story is sooo slow. A big thumbs down.

7. Post a spoiler, somebody!
What's the M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong plot-twist?

All I could "get" from the trailers is this: There's a village of backwards-assed Amish country fucks who are afraid of something in the woods..... Yeah, that's about it.

8. Yes
I thought this was a great movie: very interesting plot twist and visually creepy in a quite satisfactory manner. It did get panned by movie critics but that's often an indicator that a movie is worth checking out.

9. good until the last drop....
creepy ambiance, good acting, interesting characters....but the "twist" ending was total suck and you can see it coming. I left that theater feeling M Night Shamalamadingdong was a dishonest MOFO.

11. Rent it. But it's NOT what you are expecting.
I think somewhere between the editing and the marketing, someone decided that the real plot of the movie wouldn't sell enough tickets, so they tried to rebrand it as a horror movie. Which, clearly, it is not. It is a very clever and interesting story, and I did like it quite a bit. It felt a bit slow, but I think part of the problem was that I went into the theater expecting a non-stop thriller, and The Village is NOT that sort of film.

12. It's a cheap rip off of Running out of Time

a terrific Adolescent lit book by Margaret Peterson

13. I didn't like it at all.
I thought it was dreadfully boring. I really liked Sixth Sense, but I don't know if I'll bother paying to see any more M. Night Shamalayan movies after this and Signs.

14. It was okay.
I figured out the twist before I even went to the theatre, but the acting is pretty decent, especially by Ron Howard's daughter.
