18. And with his degrees,
he'd be teaching high school government. Something he's already interested in, and a field where there are very few liberals educating tomorrow's youth.

And why am I referring to him in the third person?

13. Male prostitute!
The insurance plan sucks, but you can set your own schedule and you don't have to worry about getting downsized.

14. Check out Environmental Consultants
Entry-level, they typically look for an engineering or geology degree, but I used to work for one who hired history majors as well.

Your best bet would be as a sampling technician. It is grunt work, but the pay is ok (around 35-40k/yr). You basically drive a truck around, put pumps in groundwater wells, and collect samples.

The holiday season is coming up and you are in a resort area. YOu can work nights, make tips and some cash and during the day you can focus on getting your resume sent out and getting a job you REALLY want.

20. some places to start
Find out how to get on the teaching sub list. You can meet the basics that way without tying yourself down to a permanent job you don't want.
Visit the chamber of commerce, introduce yourself.
Find out if the area has a business incubator, introduce yourself.
Go to every meet up in Miami, no matter what candidate, introduce yourself.
Attend a city council meeting.

21. Endless possibilities, especially if you speak Spanish
That's basic reality in Dade and Broward, bilingualism much preferred, especially for new hires. Your name suggests you might speak Spanish. I have no idea.

Are you looking for immediate income regardless of position, or trying to jumpstart a career?

* The Port of Miami is the busiest in the world, with any number of diversified positions. You could show up there. It wouldn't necessarily mean cruise ship laundry duty alongside Haitians, although that would probably be available.

* The top employer in Miami is the public school system. Miami-Dade Community College has several branches as well. Plus there is FIU and, of course, UM. My parents might have some advice, and probably a good contact(s), if you have any interest in teaching, as a couple of other posts suggested. My mom taught in the public schools and my dad recently retired as a professor at Miami-Dade.

* You might try http://miamidadedemocrats.com/ to meet up with local Democrats. I noticed there is a Dean for America meeting in Miami this Wednesday at 7 PM (and the first Wednesday of each month). A fellow Dean supporter might have an opening in his business, or steer you to someone else who does.

22. If you reallly get desperate
You can always become a truck driver. Drivers are always in demand. There are companies that will train you to get your cdl for free if you agree to work for them for a year. Pay's alright. Not so good when you're first starting out, but it should pay the bills. I'd think it would be a big waste for you, though, considering all the college you have. There has to be something in your field available down there. Keep searching and let us know when you find something.
