After all, they are natural carnivores. Dogs are descended from wolves and their diet is 100% meat based.

I have cats and though it is possible to have vegan cats, it is super hard to regulate the diet and I rather not take the chance with my kitters. However, dogs are much easier to feed a vegan diet. They make vegan dog food.

20. I'm a vegan, I actually run an animal rescue

All the dogs here, sans puppies, get vegetarian dog food. They're omnivores, not carnivores. The cats get meat based cat food, as they are, indeed, true carnivores. Every animal we've taken in has thrived, as well.

Besides, the quality of "meat" in commercial dog food is abhorrent. By-products and "digest" shouldn't be consumed by any animal.
