super simplistic computer question
I have a Compaq computer with operating system windows me (millennium)

somehow I eliminated the bottom bar of the screen when just the desktop is showing.....I do not have time showing on the right or a way to shut off or restart......access was on the left bottom

any ideas about what I can do before calling Compaq for help?

(how did I eliminate this stuff?)

1. I have XP
and I think if you put your cursor down to the bottom of the screen you will be able to drag it back up. I think.

2. there should be a very narrow gray line at the bottom of the scroon
put your mouse on it, and a little arrow should appear: click and pull the bar upwards; it's adjustable

3. You should have a Windows button on your keyboard...
To the left of the spacebar and Alt key...

Click it and you should see the Start Bar. You shoul dbe able to navigate your mouse to the very top of it and click and drag to move it... it's probably shrunk down too small.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and get rid of Win ME!! EESH!!

4. This happens to me periodically.
My solution is to shut the damn thing down and start over!

I suspect we'll receive a better remedy here, though.

7. To restart, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete at the same time
You may have to push it another time to get the computer to restart.
If this doesn't work, I usually just turn it off and then back on again (not recommended, but what else can you do?)

My mom had Windows ME and it was a complete disaster; her computer did all kinds of weird things. An expert told us that it was a bad operating system and recommended updating to Windows XP. She bought the update, I installed it for her, and it's been great every since.

9. Put your mouse as far down to the bottom of the screen as you can
get it and let me know what happens.
