Can an OpenMRI be blurry or less detailed?!
The neurosurgeon today (almost too quickly) dismissed the MRI results as being blurry. (funny that, my neurologist and mri lab said I did a great job.) And if openmri has a tendency to produce less detailed images, then why does anybody use it when people can be sedated?

Oh yeah, she asked if I had schizophrenia too. x( :grr:  :argh:

I called back my neurologist, explaining today's events, and asking if I could get a second opinion. If he could read them and see a problem and if the mri lab people said the images looked great, then what is wrong with the surgeon, who is not trained in psychology, suggesting it's SCHIZO-bloody-PHRENIA?!?!?!

Man, I was hopping mad...

3. I don't. While I did have a brain MRI done, she did not bother to say
that schizophrenics have the qualifying characteristics. Why didn't she come out and say it? Instead of tapdancing around it and treating me like an invalid? That's unfair to me, to say the least.

The neurologist would have seen such deformities either. He saw none, or he would have said as much.

Now I do have anxiety problems. (caused by years of a chaotic environment, that I wish the rest of this damn joke of a society would resolve instead of tolerate.)

I have ADD (been there since age 4 or 5 - only recently did my concern get taken seriously; and my coworker who helped me on the day I fell is still furious with the drug prescriber for comments he had said about me while I was blissfully incoherent...)

I've been diagnosed with many things by many people, yet my co-workers - some of which are in the counseling/psychiatry field - are angry at these people who had diagnosed me with schizophrenia, schizoaffective, or what not because my co-workers (who know me for more than a combined 90 minutes too!) think the diagnoses are utter rubbish. (I have every right to be defensive and pro-active when it comes to mental health. I've been given so many illnesses, each one barring two having been debunked, that I am understandably apprehensive or angry when somebody trys to peg me with something new and unflatteringly exotic...)

I also did not like to hear that the reason why one of them befriended me was because of my psychological issues (I don't recall the exact wording, but that's what the latest one was saying; there was a false reason why she's close to me. And that sure as hell hurt. That coworker is like a sister to me, just as I am to her.)

6. Cute. :-) I do have a habit of taking things literally... that's another
issue I've had since I was very young.

2. All MRI's can suffer for motion artifact
YOu didn't say what part of the body, but if it is the back or the neck, a CT scan with contrast material can accomplish the same result without the claustrophobia

5. Sorry... I had MRIs done for brain and neck. Two for each.
The first set was without the radioactive "juice" they injected.

The second set was with the "juice". :-) Can both of the neck MRIs, with all the images, be useless?

And why should I pay for something that didn't work? It's not my fault, is it? That stuff is expensive. ANd the lab techs said I did a great job.

:-(

7. If the lab techs said they were good then they are readable
A neurosurgeon should know how to read an MRI...I'd get the second opinion..

8. Much thanks!
I told a couple of my closer friends, one of which had MRIs recently, and she was appalled too - and asked I call the neurologist back straight away to get the ball rolling for a second opniion.
