Don't Ya Just Love 60's "Stereophonic" High-Fidelity Recordings??
With the main vocals on the left speaker and the background singers on the right. Or with ONLY vocals on one side, and ONLY instrumental on the other.

Very simple... not very sophisticated... but now it's a pretty charming characteristic. I get a kick out of listening to it.

If memory serves... there are a couple of Mama's & Papa's recordings that you can hear a karaoke version by fading the balance to the left. Or you can have an acapella serenade by fading to the right.

5. I use "tuning dots"
to get a full, quadrophonic effect.

6. Considering the first Beatles records were mono

we've come a long way in a short time. We now have the equivalent of a professional sound recording studio in those little beige boxes that sit by our desks. Some of the recording and production software I've played with makes it all seem pretty magical and amazing. Not to mention the 60gb of mp3 music on my hard drive- over 7000 songs literally at my fingertips. (BTW, fuck the RIAA.)

I was always rather fond of the Quadraphonic concept- it flopped in a short time, but in retrospect it was extremely forward-thinking. We now have five-piece speaker arrangements for under fifty dollars, and the sound cards (and stereo amplifiers) that can use them well.

8. How about, "Electronically re-recorded to simulate stereo?"
Where they remixed mono recordings so that you had the bass in one speaker and the treble in the other. ARRRRGH!!! :hurts:
