The above looks cool.

This, on the other hand, looks like a miniature death chamber. Ever put a raw egg, marshmallow peeps, or gerbils in there? It's not pretty. Especially if you accidentially rupture the outer plastic seal covering the metallic viewing grill. The side-effects are really cool too.

5. Yup, I have a popping pan, too...
and I buy the large, cheap, bags or jars of popcorn. Had an air popper, but it disappeared years ago and I don't really miss it.

Never liked the Jiffy Pop sort of stuff, or the microwave stuff. It all tastes like baked paper.

12. I pop mine on the stove too
It is so much better than microwaved stuff. And you have to put real butter on it.

4. The magnetron on our microwave went out last week
So we actually made Jiffy Pop on the stove this last Saturday to eat while watching a movie. Estimate on fixing our built-in 4 year old microwave came in at $588.00 today. Looks like I'll be using a pan until we can afford a new replacement oven... :grr:

7. Jiffys are about the same price as microwave packets.
I don't like the fat in the mwave popcorn. We have a bowl thing that goes in the microwave and it works pretty well and no fat.

But... while microwaves are a form of radiation, just like light and ultraviolet light, it's not "radiation." There are no isotopes in a microwave.

BTW: AOL CDs do nothing but give you brain cancer if you sniff the smoke they make. Only blue CD-R discs produce any cool effects worth watching and going infertile over.

13. Not to bust your bubble, but it's not radioactive.
Yes, microwave ovens can and often do leak, but microwave radiation is not the same as gamma rays or decaying plutonium. Food that is microwaved doesn't become "radioactive". The minute the oven is turned off, the radiation stops. The food is simply hot. If it was radioactive, it would be dangerous to eat indeed.

16. Jiffy pop always got burned to some degree
It was by far the most fun to watch popping, but it burned and didn't taste so good. Microwave is somewhat better. Airpopping is the way to go though.
