1. My house isn't decorated, but my parents' house, several miles away, is.
I am visiting their Christmas decorations again this year instead of decorating my own place. :silly:

11. I AM performing my annual ritual of voyeuring all the
great light displays that folks like to do around this town. I never will get tired of doing that!!!

13. Somewhere along the line...
...my procrastination has prompted me to "share" my Mom's tree. As long as Christmas exists somewhere, I won't feel guilty. :P

2. We've got a little teenie-tiny tree shaped light up thing...
in the living room on the table, and then a miniature of every building from BEDFORD FALLS from 'It's a Wonderful Life' surrounding it. :)

3. I'm Tree/Wreath
Usually I do it all. Two years in a row I stripped the gears in my electric meter when we flipped the switch on. This year I have way too much going on in my life. We were lucky to get the tree up.

4. Christmas was a really bad time in my family of origin.
Something unspeakable happened to me on Christmas when I was 5. I got into Christmas while my son was young and it meant something to him. Now I slap a fake wreath on the door and screw it.

5. I always go wild
and really decorate. This year is just so bizarre though. First, we lose the election, then my beautiful neighbor dies, just like that, no warning, then that lunatic who we are renting the house to in Punta Banda bounces checks on me plus hurls insults at us over email, so we have to block him, and kick his ass out on the 31st, great, New Years, plus we have to hire a Mexican cop to assist; then, we have to deal with the owner of this place that we've bid on who is a big fat baby and nuttier than a fruit cake, plus we went through the past month not knowing if Jack the dog was going to make it. Jack, by the way, within two weeks on his new meds is really doing good, although the meds run $80.00 a month, can't get them down here at all, going to try to do Canada on line.

We are just worn out. I'm making a special dinner and we'll go to Church, that's about all I can handle this year. This has never happened to me before and it's pretty weird.

Hoping next year will be "normal".

6. definitely low key this year as compared to other years
Instead of our normal big ass tree with tons of ornaments and 500 lights, we have the 2 foot fiberoptic w/1 string of lights on the table in the bay window.

My regular lighted wreath is on the porch, and I threw some white fairy lights on the hedge under the bay window. I have a couple of Christmasy looking items in my front room, but that is it folks.

Some years I really feel like doing the whole bit, drag out every thing I have stored and really decorate all over the front room, family room and kitchen. Not this year, the one year when I actually had time to do it.

did not feel like it ..period. Partly because my husband is not here to drag the bigass tree out of the attic for me, partly because daughter and I both are suffering from huge allergy storm or maybe a cold and I did not want to stir up any extra dust, partly the election, partly because my mom, my favorite aunt and my grandmother all died this year, partly because of being unable to find a job for 6 months.

Part of it is I absolutely did not feel up to the kneeling and squatting, bending and stooping that assembling the tree, lights and ornaments requires. Knees are killing me this winter.

and you know, it's just ONE DAY, I think it's supposed to be about something that went down in Bethlehem anyways...ha, ha. Ask St. Anthony to help you find that job. Take it easy.

9. I start the new job 12/27 yay. My daughter and I will go to our
church for candlelight communion and lots of good music on Christmas Eve
We plan to spend Christmas Day at the movies.

My husband won't be home until mid Jan, so we will make up for a low key Christmas then.

that about 10 years ago after never doing anything for about 10 years. Then I saw this really neat cat ornament, then I had to get a tree, more ornaments and it snowballed from there.
