Deep-fried Mars bars... mmmmmm
The deep-fried Mars bar, a nutritionist's nightmare that surfaced in Scotland about a decade ago, is now an established part of the Scottish culinary scene, according to a letter published in The Lancet.

Dipped in batter and then cooked in hot oil, the Mars bar is now on sale in more than a fifth of Scotland's 627 fish-and-chip shops, it says.

1. They ruined the Mars bar when they took the almonds off the top
and chopped them up and put them inside.

But deep fried, I don't know about that?

14. Is that's what it's called?
I couldn't believe it when I saw it. But then again, I should talk.. Pretty much the same thing as a chicken fried steak sandwich ala Sonic, and a battered sausage compares to their corn dogs.

I'll run down the chippy & mail some over to you if you'll make a Sonic run for me! :)

You even ordered the right number!!

Manomanoman, that sounds good! (Except that whole diet coke thing.)

Next time maybe a corn dog with onion rings for dessert, topped off with a cherry limeade just for variety's sake, eh? (Trying to remember the entire menu)

:toast:

10. You can get (if you dare) deep-fried Milky Ways and/or Twinkies...
...in most summer fairs, festivals, carnivals, etc.

These guys will deep fry ANYthing...including Oreos.

I haven't dared to try any of these so-called delights. I don't NEED any more Bad Habits - I have enough already.

18. "Pirate Chips" in Nanaimo BC does it year 'round.
Deep fried Mars and Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups, in 100% organic vegetable oil.

I tried one once, and swore to never have another one, because it was amazingly delicious, and I can see myself eating three a day and dying at 40.

24. This made the local news last night.
They sent a reporter to a chip shop to see if these things really exist. They do. Right now deep-fried mince pies & figgy pudding are also popular as seasonal variations.

25. Sanguinaccio or Pig's Blood Pudding

Recipe:

Sangieri di San Fili:
From San Fili, Prov Cosenza.
(Pork) Blood Pudding (Sanguinaccio)
1 1/2 liters pig blood
1 liter thick fig honey (miele di fichi)
1 glass honey
1 Kg. sugar
250 grams cocoa powder
1 lump of butter the size of a walnut
1 plateful chopped walnuts
500 grams raisins
grated rind from 2 oranges
1 long stick cinnamon
5 cloves
1 glass lemon liquour
1 glass brandy
1 strip lemon peel, thinly sliced

Place the cocoa powder in a mound and gradually add the pig blood (which has been collected at the time of slaughter, making it drain from the just slashed throat into a pan where it is constantly beaten with a whisk to avoid coagulation and held in the refrigerator for a day at the most). Mix slowly and likewise add the fig honey so that the cocoa mixture doesn't have lumps. Add the sugar and butter continually mixing with a wooden spoon. Cook in a double boiler (that is a saucepan set in a pan of water over a very low flame) without bringing the water to a boil.
When the cream, placed on a saucer is coagulated and not draining liquid, it is done. Now add the nuts, raisins and flavorings and pour into containers after cooling.
