Aerosmith song on a Buick commercial-MAN! they sold out!
I've seen it all now. You'd think that those guys would be the last to sell out....AEROSMITH!!

The others I could see but Aerosmith???

Okay Sarcasm off-Have you noticed that Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts Now" on NFL commercials and TV ads? I'm not accusing him of selling out (a man's gotta eat) but damn that was quick. I wonder if any NFL Joe six-pack fans search that song out and discover what it is really about.

(The Stones, by the way, have gone on to waste the lovely "You Can't Always Get What you Want" on Coke's obnoxious C2 cola campaign and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" for the new Chevy Corvette. Apparently, Mick wants to have more money than God).

The list is truly endless. Sinatra (Visa) to Tom Petty (ESPN), the Clash (Pontiac, Jaguar) to Screamin' Jay Hawkins (Levi's), Queen (Coke) to Earth, Wind and Fire (the Gap), Paul Oakenfold (Volvo) to Celine Dion (Chrysler), Ted Nugent (Cingular), Stevie Wonder (Red Lobster), Lou Reed (Amex), Bob Dylan (Victoria's Secret), Andrew W.K. (Expedia, Coors Light) to the Shins (McDonald's). It goes on. And on. And on.

(My favorite bizarrely ironic musical-bedfellow example has to be that nastygood grunge tune "Awake," by heavily tattooed and happily pierced pagan n-metal dudes Godsmack, now used in recruitment ads for the U.S. Navy. Ah yes. Kill me now).

1. Looking at Mick's personal life, he wants more women than God too.
The famous all have one thing in common: The want of more money. Recall after 9/11, with all of those telethons and charities... was it Rosie O'Donnell who was disgusted by hollywood's selfishness over the celebs not giving money yet asking all of middle and lower America to?

3. in a way, i can't really blame them
a. they are going to just pay someone else to use their music

or

b. they are going to get some one to do a lame "sound-a-like" version of whatever song they wanted to use in the first place.

6. Artists sell out as soon as they take even one thin dime for their
work---in the purest sense, anyway. But who begrudges 'em earning a living?

10. Which is precisely ( IMO ) the gist of my current favorite song to drop in
(snipped)

And in between
Sips of Coke
He told me that
He thought
We were sellin' out,
Layin' down,
Suckin' up
To the man.

Well now I've got some
A-dvice for you, little buddy.
Before you point the finger
You should know that
I'm the man,

(snip)

All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one.

(snip)

All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one.

All you read and
Wear or see and
Hear on TV
Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar

So...Shut up and

Buy my new record
Send more money
Fuck you, buddy.

7. and Steven "I'm one ugly lizard of a motherf*ck" Tyler strutting in slo-mo
while the girlie girls scramble for their phones in the Sony commercial isn't selling out?

Besides, doesn't 'selling out' have a prerequisite of NOT sucking?
