6. I make it that way, minus the egg.
Add a little salt and pepper for seasoning.

Oh, toasting the bread helps.

7. Leave out the onion....
But that's just me -- I hate raw onions. The other thing is that you just can't use (blech!) Miracle Whip, which is nasty. Gotta use real mayonnaise.

13. Au Contraire, mon Capitan....
The purist in me says that a tuna sandwich should consist of the following:

1. Chunk WHITE tuna.
(NOT chunk light.... that stuff is fine for cat food, but unfit for human consumption)

2. Mayonnaise (Miracle Whip is RIGHT OUT)

Flake the tuna using a fork and then add a few tablespoons of mayo.
Mix well.

Serve on rye bread (pumpernickel will do in a pinch) spread with additional mayo if you like and a kosher dill spear on the side.

If you want REAL decadence, serve with a bowl of cream of tomato soup and chocolate milk to wash it all down.

DAMN!... now I'm all hungry ;)

BTW boiled egg belongs on egg-salad. I'm sure it tastes fine, but that is not how it is "supposed" to be done.

29. Tuna sandwiches
Love tuna sandwiches with mayo, onion, and sweet pickle relish on 7 or 9 grain bread. The tuna must be albacore or I won't eat it.
Call me fussy, but albacore tuna makes the sandwich.

Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 09:52 PM by njdemocrat106
Chunk light tuna (yeah, i know. I like the cheaper tuna better).
Mayonnaise (Miracle Whip is disgusting).
Sweet Vidalia Onion salad dressing.
A pinch of dill.
A pinch of cayenne pepper powder.

Mix together, and put on a soft potato-flour roll with pickle chips either on the side or on the sandwich itself.

Edit: WOO! Post number 100 for me!

33. wyldwof, hate to burst your fishy little bubble
but tuna is best served on an onion roll with mayo, bit o' whole grain mustard, bread abd butter pickles ( chopped, of course ), some lemon balm, pepper and there you go.

Your way is second best. :P
