We own a news agency, and the newspaper's pay a CRAP commission to your carrier--- generally somewhere around a dime per-paper. It is customary to tip around 10% of the annual cost of the paper.
I was wondering about that since I pay the paper directly. There's a line on the invoice where I put in a tip but I don't trust 'em.
I'm going with $20 like Otohara since he double bags it at the mere hint of a cloud and I've never yet had a wet or unreadable paper.
Uh..have any clue HOW I tip the garbage man without having to stand outside early in the morning waiting for him?? Maybe next year they'll take all my stuff.
On the night of garbage pick-up, I put a nice card with a $20 bill in it in a ziplock bag and taped it to the garbage bin. He pulled my bin back up from the curb to the house, which I assume is code for "I got it and thank."
Lucky for me they come late afternoon to my house. I leave a note on the big boxy trash thing in my alley that the tamales are ready. They just blow the horn a couple of times on the truck and we take it out to them. Maybe you could call the city or service (which ever you use) ask them who your guys are and send them a check or a gift certificate at their "barn".
100,000 people. In some parts of the country thats small. In my part medium size. For me it's just right. Try contacting the contractors office, maybe they could help you with an address to send to. I have always been blessed so far with the nicest garbage guys. What a hard job. I am so glad that so many DUers are remembering them. I don't even want to think about what my life would be with out them!
