Once Upon A Time In Mexico was great... I just really loved it..
the more I think about all the oh so cool aspects of it, the more impressed I am with it.

It's violent, hands down. Some real gory stuff, but that's what hands over the eyes are for. Wouldn't be shocked if tarantino was influencial on the torture scenes, but, regardless, they were very important to the story.

Mickey Rourke was WILD. What an overlooked talent. Ruben Blades played brilliant. The surprise? Enrique Inglesias. He was a GREAT bad good guy. His role was minimal, but seamless and important. Loved the 3rd Mariachi; I don't think I've seen him in anything else, but he was a hottie and a lot of fun.

There was no sex, I would have liked some of that actually.. Soften it up. It was heavy, no doubt. El's current state of mind is weighted with tragedy and duty.

Depp was ROCKIN. WOW. Irreverent, casual, serious. pivotal. Who he was, who he transitioned to was amazing.

I LOVED Rodriguez' vision of Mexico. It's what I WANT mexico to be... it's what it should be in a shoot em up fantasy world.. with good guys and bad guys and hot chicks and cool guns.

Caliente muchacho!

1. That is a great no-tell review! I'm going
You should write reviews. You told me everything I have to know
without revealing the particulars.

2. Glad you enjoyed OUATIM!
 I was a big fan of the Leone triology when I was little. This feels like a fun house ride in comparison. LOL!

OK, I admit it. I went to see it for Johhny Depp. The man's just amazing. WOW! I have to say, He had the best lines of anyone, though.

3. aw Depp was STEAMING... he was just sizzling in this.... what an
understated but crucial performance and role. No one else could have played it QUITE like that.

Depp oughta be racking up some oscars any time now...

5. There's talk in the nominating circles
about JD for POTC, I hear. Though, nothing definite yet. And Disney seems to be cranking up for a big promo for an oscar nom for him.

I think it would be wonderful for him. He's given stupendously great performances over the years. It pains me he's been so overlooked. But I don't reckon JD cares .... overmuch.
