the more I think about all the oh so cool aspects of it, the more impressed I am with it.
It's violent, hands down. Some real gory stuff, but that's what hands over the eyes are for. Wouldn't be shocked if tarantino was influencial on the torture scenes, but, regardless, they were very important to the story.
Mickey Rourke was WILD. What an overlooked talent. Ruben Blades played brilliant. The surprise? Enrique Inglesias. He was a GREAT bad good guy. His role was minimal, but seamless and important. Loved the 3rd Mariachi; I don't think I've seen him in anything else, but he was a hottie and a lot of fun.
There was no sex, I would have liked some of that actually.. Soften it up. It was heavy, no doubt. El's current state of mind is weighted with tragedy and duty.
Depp was ROCKIN. WOW. Irreverent, casual, serious. pivotal. Who he was, who he transitioned to was amazing.
I LOVED Rodriguez' vision of Mexico. It's what I WANT mexico to be... it's what it should be in a shoot em up fantasy world.. with good guys and bad guys and hot chicks and cool guns.
Caliente muchacho!
