When you're pissed or just want to drown out life, what CD do you pop in? Lately it's been Maroon 5 or Eminem for me.

3. That is the ONLY Green Day song I have ever been able to like...
People think I'm crazy, but every song seems exactly the same with different words. Except this one. Their earlier stuff had the same three cords over and over. I sent them a letter and told them to learn ALL the cords. Well, not really, but I thought about it. lol

5. I've just realized the joys of Pink Floyd...
I honestly thought Pink Floyd was a guy until about 5 years ago when Skip introduced them to me. I was so lame before he came into my life.

12. The Wall is great headphone music
I think most music is better thru headphones. The violins in "Comfortably Numb" are bearly audible over the radio, but put on the phones and they are a symphony in their own right.

Some of my favorite old farts listen to the best music, IE: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc...

19. Then do yourself a favour
and buy one of the albums I mentioned!

(Devo is a bit of an acquired taste, though!)

Thanks for the reminder!

17. Every time I think of that song, I think of Ferris Beuller on a float...
In the middle of downtown Chicago. God, that was a great movie...and that's a great song.

10. Planetary Assault Systems
Bought the CD because of the cool band name; from somewhere in the acid house section. Great stuff.

13. I rarely use CDs anymore.
I now use Rhapsody, and I have been known to compose playlists for certain purposes, such as zoning, or winding down from a bad day.

Currently I'm listening to Vaughan-Williams' Mass in G Minor.

Here's my 'winding down playlist' :

Patience - GnR
Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
Foolish Games - Jewel
The Lighthouse's Tale - Nickel Creek
More than Words - Extreme
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
November Rain - GnR
You've Got a Friend - James Taylor
Keep on Loving You - REO Speedwagon
I want to Know what Love Is - Foreigner
etc, etc...

It just helps me forget the day behind me on days like today.

14. /There's a Riot Goin' On/ by Sly and the Family Stone
Actually not much in my headphones, and it usually has to be political, but that's a good album for it.

16. I'm almost always cycling or working out when I use headphones, so
I like some fast moving stuff like "NYC Underground" or
"Queer as Folk", sometimes a little reggae mix is good chilling music at the beach. Yes, it is still beach weather here -82 today!

I know it's unsafe to cycle with headphones, but I do wear a helmet now, and I have a rear-view mirror, so I get to see the old fart before he hits me.:scared:

When I want to drown out life, I put on some Fela, or some Merzbow, or some Grateful Dead.

Great mellow music for inducing a mystical calm. Also their Phædra album. Freaky.
