4. When I saw them live
in Chicago, they played that song on modified pocket calculators - old ones, from the era in which that song was written. Cooooool.

So WTF is a stylophone?

6. It's an old monophonic synth
In which you use a stylus to operate the keys. Apparently it was a crappy little novelty item at the time (late 60's). Here's a link:

7. Yeah, that was the good old days..
.. now they just perform it using their laptops/synthesizers/keyboards/magic wands :D

Still one heck of a live experience though.

12. No, this was in '97 or '98!
They didn't lean on pre-recorded backing sounds very heavily at all - the whole show was pretty much played live -- they even made mistakes here and there. I was impressed.

14. I know, I saw them in 1998 as well
.. but when they went on their 2004 world tour, Pocket Calculator was no longer performed using their converted pocket calculators & mini-keyboards.

11. KVRvst.com
http://www.kvr-vst.com/

It's a site that has links to all kinds of VST downloads, free and commercial. For some reason, I couldn't get the stylophone VST to work in Fruity Loops. There's a ton of cool free stuff here, though!
