Confession Time...

My confession is that on one of the non-political groups that I go to online, there is a woman who I cannot STAND! I hide it well and I am always nice to her, but I always roll my eyes and cringe at her saccrine sweet posts. She can't see me, but I am so bitchy about it "behind the keyboard".

This isn't at DU. I love DU.

Someone in one of the other, ahem, more volatile forums (he never came into the Lounge, IIRC) who I always thought was kind of a jerk got tombstoned.... and I was secretly very pleased about it....

3. I just took a forum post personally

You see, I was morbidly obese.

I had gastric bypass surgery in September and have since lost 54 lbs. I still have 89 lbs. to lose to get to my goal weight. (I guess technically, I still am MO, but I set my own goal weight a little higher than the 122 lbs. set by the medical establishment.)

Life as someone who carries 100+ more lbs than their ideal is very hard. Imagine for one minute what it would be like to carry around 6 or more 15 lbs. bowling balls... all day every day.

Everything I did left me winded, including tying my own shoes. I broke out in a sweat doing the simplest of chores.

I tried every diet and exercise regimine on the planet, and I was still fat.

Don't pity me, please. But try to have some understanding.

5. I think it's great that you took your health into

consideration and went forward with surgery. I'm hoping mine will be scheduled for end of January! I too was deeply offended by that other thread. congrats!

10. My best friend drives me nuts!

We were thrown together a couple years ago and hit it off, but now she just annoys the hell out of me. She's self-absorbed, pouty, hypocritical and totally judgemental. AND she's a loud alcoholic.

But (God help me) I can't seem to tell her to f*ck off. She illicits a maternal instinct in me inspite of herself. Kinda like, "everyone needs someone to love them. If I don't love her, nobody will."

It sucks being a compassionate person sometimes.
