Does anyone have hope left anymore?

I read GD or GDP and it's stunning. I understand, the election was really a huge blow. However, I still have hope.
First, I think breaking things down into strict black and white areas is counter productive. The United States is not all evil and the rest of the world is not all good. Liberals are not all good either.
For a long time I believed that people in other countries were just more intelligent, but it's not true. They're the same as Americans, just with different things being thrown at them by the media and their cultures. People here in the U.S. parrot things they hear on TV. Unfortunately those things tend to be very pro-US and pro-Bush and pro-War. People in other countries also parrot what they hear on TV, but what they hear is different. It doesn't mean they give it anymore thought than an American.
When I went to Europe to visit my in laws, I was not surprised by all of the anti-American speech. I was excited. I thought these were people I could have a good discussion with on politics. But no, when asked their solution I got horrible horrible answers. The best being "Arm both sides with nukes and let them fight it out." which is probably the only answer that could possibly be worse than what happened. And this isn't only in the UK, but also Italy, Canada and Mexico (based on personal experience of actually being there).

Finally, half the people in our country voted against this. Many didn't just vote against this, but voted vehemently against this. They don't like Bush, or tolerate him. They downright HATE him. Half the country thinks like that in spite of the media bias, the propaganda, the lies, the fear and the hate. Nobody is championing the liberal side and half the people in our nation are STILL smart enough to see through the bullshit on their own. That to me is very very hopeful.

Recent events have taken a downturn.

And, you know what? I'm going to live as happy as I can until it is THE end. and that is when the book 'Final Exit' might come in handy. But it depends on what defines the END.

are still growing. Actually, they never stopped, but they were mostly
filling those positions internally for the past couple of years.

If you want to try retail, try a smaller retailer. Most of them

be happier working for one of them than a big box store anyway.

16. they won by cheating, its that simple, do you think we should have cheated

or do you think we should just expose their cheating? I vote for the latter, but the problem is that the media are just propaganda whores. Faux news and the other rightwingnut media sources have sucessfully misinformed large segments of our society. I have not given up hope. I am still glad we didn't cheat, because, the point is not just to win but also to uphold democratic elections. What baffles me is why the democratic party gave up so easily, why Kerry conceeded so soon, too soon. Still, I belive that if we can prove election fraud we may be able to impeach The Son of a Bush, and I think we all need to work on that. Or, maybe we can recall the little weaselly bastid!

I don't know where I am on the hope thing- I don't like asking myself the question for fear of the answer. However, after reading your note, which does also jive a bit with my own experience over seas, I know there are at least a few things I can be hopeful about.

These last 4 years have been the worst. To think that I'm going to have to endure another 4 is just more than I can bear right now. His four year clock hasn't even started ticking down yet. Augh!

I feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the ball away right before he kicks it and he lands flat on his back, winded. Augh! But I guess laying on my back forever isn't going to help anything much, though. Time to get up and start kicking some balls again. ;-)

That gives me a lot of hope. Look at how many people waited up to 10 hours in line to vote. That gives me hope. Look at all of the people that fight every day for the values that we believe in. That gives me hope.

They may have hijacked our government, but as long as there are people willing to stand up and fight for what they believe is right, they will never hijack America.

Nor can I get behind these calls to disembowel the Democratic Party like I am seeing in GD.

Bush won on terror terror terror and nothing more. People think republicans are better at national defense. At some point it is going to have to sink in that, no Bush is a disaster at national defense.

So yeah I have hope.

Personally I think Bush is setting himself up for a hard fall by insulating himself w yes men and women. And at some point, some bush voters are going to have to wake up and face the cold hard facts about him.
