Poll question: If I Gave You $1000...
that you could gamgle with and keep all your winnings... on which casino game would you spend most of your time? (No, you can't just cash out the $1000 and go home.)

6. Ditto and likewise
My sister and I spent a week in Las Vegas, never lacked for something to do, and didn't gamble even once.

5. Oh... you could cash out your WINNINGS
but you'd have to play SOMETHING as a condition for getting the $1000 seed-money. You couldn't just say "thanks-for-the-cash-Allen-I'm-going-home-see-ya!"

:hi:

30. I guess I could play blackjack, then.
If if was someone else's money I could risk. I like blackjack, I just don't trust my abilities enough to risk my own money on it.

27. Yes, and it is the game where the odds are least in favor of the house
Note that I say "least in favor of the house", not "in your favor" :)

I would be so distraught about having to gamble all that money, I would definitely not enjoy it.

12. Texas Hold 'em
I'd go to a Limit table. Once I made some money there I'd go to a No Limit table. The husband plays on-line and I've played with his money there. Actually, we're playing OPM (other people's money) right now because we already have taken out the "seed" money that we used to start playing with.

13. Simple. Roulette. Why?
I'd bet $500 on red, $500 on black. Either way, I cash out my $1000.

I suck at gambling.

15. Unfortunately,
it's not a 50/50 bet. You forgot that the Green 0 and the Green 00 will, and often DO come out, and will kill your bet completely.

20. Hmm...
Play in Europe then.. only one green zero and the following rule:

European casinos offer the "En Prison" rule. This refers to the "outside" even-money bets (Red/Black, High/Low, Odd/Even). When the outcome is zero, it's allowed to leave the bet for another roulette spin. So your bet stays "in prison". If the following spin the outcome is zero again, then the whole bet is lost, if it's a hit, the bet is released with no payout.

European table with "En Prison" brings the house advantage down to 1.35% for even-money bets. This is the lowest for the roulette game.

22. Unless It Comes Up "Zero" or "Double-Zero"... Then You Lose It ALL
I guess it's true that you "suck at gambling". LOL! :hi: Better stick to the slot machines. :-)

Besides... you still can't take home my $1000, because you have no net winnings.

14. Definitely a tossup for me
I've won pretty big on slots (over $2000), but I've also won some longshots in roulette. I never spend a lot of money playing roulette, though, just love to play it. When you're at a casino that lets you shift your chips around instead of higher stakes, it's easier to win. You play a row, a quad, black/white, a line, or many other combinations.

A really nice way to spend time, though, is to play Keno. It's only a couple of dollars to play a game and depending on your chosen numbers, you can do well enough to keep earning free re-plays, or getting a couple of dollars out of it every time. Keno is great to watch, and if you can, watch the boards for awhile to see how the numbers are coming up. Most of the time, you can start to see a pattern, and can profit from that if you're particularly good with memory games. It's not a fast paced game at any rate, and you usually keep getting drinks out of the deal.

And of course, there is the sports book, or betting at a race track. I like to bet on a horse every now and then, and have won a couple of longshots as a result of playing the method my aunt and others used: find a horse with a name that appeals to you, and bet on it. Ignore statistics, ignore the jockey racing, and bet strictly on strength of name alone. I won $100 on a $1 bet doing that. A guy at one of the casinos chided me, saying that women usually bet low amounts. I agreed, saying that why we almost always had money left.

I have no interest or skill (or luck) with most casino games but I'd put it on the ponies.

17. Horse Racing No Doubt
I turned a $200 trifecta into a NICE 6 figure payday Breeders cup 2001. 13 Horse field lots of chalk (Favorites) and my 8 to 1 came in FIRST my 12 to 1 came in SECOND and my 40 to 1 came in THIRD. All the money and it was a huge chunk that was bet on the favorites got divided up between the few of us that got it right. Horse racing is para mutual (betting against other punters NOT the house.)

I am known in racing circles as the "hinky" handicapper because I use weird metrics and I am usually right. Give me that money Allen and point me in the direction of Santa Anita BABY! :silly:

Just play on red or black. Lose it all or cash it after winning once. Within rules?
