Internet Anarchy?

There a new phenomenon that is very visible on bulletin boards and blogs these days. With this new communication tool, information and disinformation spread faster than news. With that, the MSM, and the govt become less and less trusted. With the boards, people can voice these anonymously (saying things they would never say with family or friends) allowing this hatred to grow.

Is it possible that long term, this highly charged, very emotional, deep distrust of government and media could lead to some kind of disintegration of institutions?

Does this belong in the lounge?

Because the internet offers such radically different viewpoints, how do you know what to believe anymore. You have to premise your conclusions on something, from somewhere. If it is not the AP, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, the Times, the POST...etc. That leaves only the sources you agree with on the Internet. If something is contrary to your viewpoint, it must not be true.

I hope it makes them better because none of them wants to go out of business. They've already tried discrediting us, next they'll probably start going after a few individuals and when still we remain, they'll have to pay attention.

thing. As long as people are free to use it, lies and all, we will find out about the lies the MSM, the government, and the corporations and other criminal gangs are feeding us.

Yes, this is what I am refering to. I am not arguing whether or not they lie. I am saying that the internet breeds the distrust. My conclusion or their trustworthiness is that it is a mixed bag, like everything else.

7. Yes, but here is my point

A critical mind (all too rare, actually) sifts through the detritus to find the Gold. As they say, the truth is out there,but it has to be searched for. The thing is, when the media is all one way, be it progressive or conservative, the truth cannot be discerned. And frankly, I don't trust progressive politicos anymore than I trust conservative ones. whatever they say has to be tested against my own knowledge and experience.

So when CNN, ABC, CBS, NPR, and CBS prints something and mediamatters prints something else, you have to chose to believe one. People are more likely to believe the one that fits thier world view. We all have a world view.

I don't believe that the media is "all one way" I think it is a mixed bag. It may lean one way sometimes and sometimes the other. The freakin freeps thinks it leans left. The du'ers think it leans right.
