11. A different meaning of the phrase "fast food"
I eat nothing (except a cup of coffe in the morning) all day every day. I also work out every evening at the gym, including an hour or so of hard cardio, followed by weights and yoga or Pilates, then I come home and make dinner. I feel no pangs of hunger during the day, and because my blood sugar levels stay constant, with no post-meal rises followed by insulin-induced dips, I feel good energy and have no late afternoon slump. I remember when the nap demon used to try to seduce me nearly every afternoon. Now I can't remember the last time I wanted a nap.

It took about a year or so to get to this schedule; I moved first to smaller breakfasts and lunches, then eliminated breakfast, then turned lunch to a mid-afternoon snack, then simply lost the desire to eat during the day. Crucial to the switchover period was that I phased out processed carbohydrates during the day (they cause the blood sugar swings that ramp you up just to bring you down), and went to protein-based or complex-carb things like cheese, tart fruits, oatmeal with nuts, PB, etc. At night I do not restrict carbohydrates at all, but have found my desire for the processed kind has lessened a lot.

It's an awesome way to stay energized, lean, and happy. Trust me, I LOVE to eat, and refuse to eat anything that doesn't taste great. I just decided to listen to my own body after all these years of reading how critical it was to eat three, or five, or seven little meals a day, or whatever the latest "scientific" findings say. What a load of BS. Think about how cave people ate. Fast...feast...and more fast. More fast than feast. It's how we evolved.
