This song has been haunting me for 24 hours now. Seeing Bono at the Clinton library only kept it going.
And I can see those fighter planes I can see those fighter planes Across the mud huts where the children sleep Through the valleys and the quiet city street We take the staircase to the first floor We turn the key and slowly unlock the door A man breathes into a saxophone And through the walls we hear the city groan Outside it's America Outside it's America ... the sky is ripped open And the rain pours through a gaping wound Pelting the women and children Pelting the women and children
Who run... who run... Into the arms... of America -1987
That was about El Salvador but some still seem to think that some amount of military force will make people love us.

but u2 would have been next. i know its not what youre referencing but "war" is just an amazing album. they used to really break out the truth and the fight
i have all their albums through joshua tree but war and october stand out
hope youre doing ok.. im interested in that since you sound like youre in some pain. i didnt mean to take what you said and turn it into a discussion of what music i like.
i share that connection to the pain and passion of what their music was
3. glad to hear it.... ive told you how i feel of u2
have you heard the self titled robbie robertson album from 1987? also really good, and reminds me somewhat of the hypnotic quality you mentioned from joshua tree. u2 actually plays on the album a little but robbie has his own desert-based, native american themes which speak to me.
