a question on feeding stray cats

Ok, so I went to my campus police station to get a key because I had locked mine in my room. On the front porch of the station were two cats which i guess have been hanging out there for a while. After I got the key, the cats followed me back to my apartment, I didn't let them 'cause I didn't want two wild cats loose in the apartment. When I got back outside they were gone. I told the campus police this, and they gave me two cans of cat food. They had been feeding them, but recentlt told they were not allowed too.

OK, here's the question, if I find the cats again, should I feed them?? sure the answer may be obvious, but I don't stay on campus over holiday breaks. I don't want them to get used to just me and then have no where to go when I'm gone. If I take them inside, again, I have the same problem of me leaving plus my parents would HATE IT if I brought the two cats home.

1. rescue the babies

so they do not become feral. take them to animal shelter

2. PM me. The campus guards are obviously attached

and I doubt they are ferals. Campuses ALWAYS have strays - students abandon them when they move.... lots of reasons.

3. Every critter deserves a meal...feed them when you are there

and when you are not, they will find other food..If you can catch them,maybe you can find homes for them.. Call around before you catch them :)..Maybe there's a no-kill shelter nearby..or call a few vets and see if they have any clients who do cat rescue.. Most vets have at least a few clients who do that..:)

If it's cold near you, buy some canned mackeral (cheap and it has a lot of fish oil).. It helps them "beef up" for a harsh winter..

4. Feral cats don't follow people home or want to come inside.

You indicate they would have come in buy you wouldn't let them.
Please call a rescue group and get these kitties somewhere inside before winter. If either cat is female, she is probably pregnant - more reason to do a rescue number on them.

And then you try to find them homes or get them placed in a no-kill shelter...

Don't leave them to starve.... Make some phone calls and help them!

7. that's what I'm going to do

gonna have the food in my backpack and gonna try and find them tomorrow. i found a SPCA shelter nearby that, if i can get the cats into a large box i have, i'm gonna take them to.
