2. Sure - no problem.
Some sites only work on IE, so you'll have to keep it around.

4. then again, some sites only think they only work with IE,

You can get around that by changing the User Agent String (there's an extension available for that, if you don't want to do it yourself).

3. Of course, you can have as many browers as you want
Buying? You mean the CD? It's a free download, if you want to go that route.

5. I have four browsers on my machine
IE, Firefox, Netscape 7, Opera...oh, and an old Mozilla browser. So five. They all work independently and you can have them all open at once, if you want.

Firefox is probably the best browser out right now.

6. you can have both

I use both IE and Firefox.

You can also download Firefox 1.0 for free if you wish, which
you probably already know,
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
of course the CD is inexpensive and comes with a printed guidebook.

14. I think it's a very stable browser,
not prone to shut downs or lock ups like some Netscape browsers I've used. The tabbed browsing feature is very cool, probably the best feature.

16. if you like netscape, you'll love FireFox
I think.

FireFox is smaller, faster, cooler, and have more people working on the code and extensions and whatnot.

If you like the extra stuff in Netscape then you'll love being able to pick and choose exactly what you want. It's soooo customizable. texturizer.net will hook you up with extensions

25. You'll never learn if you don't ask. Now, if I do this
Click on "Help" in the menu bar, I will get a chance to select "About Mozilla Firefox" - which shows me that I'm using Firefox.... do you have something similar?

Now, if I wanted to see which version, I'd just click on that and a dialog box would pop up showing that info --- like so:
