After getting inspired by your post, at least the usual things:
Fruits and berries do well. Especially bananas, filleted oranges and strawberries, but even exotic fruits are very good. Remember to dip all fruits in lemon juice, to prevent them from chaiging color.

Also cookies and similar things, as well as lightly salted snacks do great.

Adding ground nuts (Hazel, pecan or cashew) to the fondue is a good way to make it something special. During the Christmas season a few spices are a good way to create the right mood.

On Edit: the basic recipe is 2/3 dark chocolate and 1/3 cream.

2nd Edit: my spelling is outrageous today.

3. Great!! Will the cream curdle though?
 I don't know, just plan on melting some Baker's choc and dipping a few fruits.

Couldn't get any exotic fruits today, the produce at the local grocer's was pretty pathetic. :)

We only did it twice (I'm not a great fan of things sweet) and we didn't use baker's chocolate, but normal dark chocolate.

But no, the cream did fine. We also added brandy, maybe that did prevent it from curdling. We did melt it in the kitchen and only used the fondue set to keep it molten.

6. stale pound cake or
stale angel cake. Has to be kind of hard so it won't fall apart when dipped in the fondue.
