Is anyone else here into Microsoft Flight Simulator?
I picked up FS2002 a couple of months ago on a total lark. Thought it might be kind of fun to learn how planes fly. It was less than $20, so I figured I'd cough up another $15 for a cheapie joystick.

I don't know what it is about this "game". You don't shoot down anything. You're not being shot at. There is no scoring of any kind. You just kind of fly around and enjoy the pretty scenery, all the while trying not to stall or fly into an office building. Flights can take hours, with nothing to look at that entire time except the ocean or miles of sagebrush slowly rolling beneath you.

Sounds pretty dull, doesn't it? Then HOW COME I CANNOT STOP PLAYING THIS STUPID GAME! This thing is far more addictive than crack, and at $35, a lot cheaper.

1. You are entering the realm of flight simming

It is a lost cause. Succumb to your desires. Resistance is futile. Google flight sims and see what happens.

3. I Confess

I am......

I mostly fly with 3rd party panels up and down the coast. I have about $300.00 in third party add ons which includes some highly detailed major airports.

As far as combat action.....MS has a software program for that..

Trust me......you will soon be able to pull yourself away from it that is until you see FS2004 then it will start over again.....

7. My machine's too old for 2004
At least I can thank God for that.

Last night I saw ads for fully realistic control yokes and rudder pedals--about a $350 setup. Normally I would laugh at such an extravagance for a "computer game". But they really looked cool to have.

4. Set-up a flight in a 757 coming into Washington, DC at
7000ft/cruising speed (500 MPH). Make your approach NE over the Potomac. Then try to do a 270 turn into the Pentagon.

It's really, really hard.

Overall, for speed and control, the Lear is the most fun to fly..

8. The control panel on the Lear scares me.
I'm still flying the Cessnas. This week I added "landing gear up/down" and ILS to my repertoire of pseudoaviation skills.

6. They tried to bust a 10-year-old kid for getting Flight Simulator?
Here's my favorite line in the article:

Shortly before Christmas, the FBI issued a terror alert to beware of drivers with maps, or reference books.

How can law enforcement do this shit with a straight face?
