I saw Jethro Tull in... well, let's see now... well, I can't remember what the year would have been, but I was inspired to take flute lessons after that, and man, did that SUCK!!!

suddenly I am a high school student in the 70s going to my first ever big concert. Actually, he was a very engaging performer and great flute player. Guess it could be worse, a reunion of America. ;)

saw them a couple of years ago -- his kind of have. His voice is still pretty fair, but he seems to have a hard time holding notes.

We saw them early in the tour -- maybe it had been a while for him, and he was just getting 'back in shape,' but it was a little sad.

Hope nobody's upset who's going to see them -- it was a great show, I was just a little shocked at Anderson's voice.

16. Yes, he's still a good singer, but has a lot more control over...

...his voice now. He blew his vocal chords out in the mid-80's, and has somewhat tailored his style. But its great, mellow, and soothing. The band is tighter and more professional than ever. Much more structured.

I love "The Whistler" and "Skating Away" the best, I think. Probably because I am a real fan of celtic music, so those songs really do it for me.

Saw him twice in the 70's (oh,oh, dating myself here). He put on a great show. I wonder if he still comes out in the aqualung gear during that song? I would be interested to know if his routine has been updated at all. Enjoy the show.

...If someone is going to go see him to go see some retro show of a guy singing his greatest hits from 30 years ago, they will be greatly disappointed. Like most of us since then - I'm dating myself too - he has evolved, as has his music. He still throws out some morsels from his past, but the concert will be heavy on his musice since then, too. I've always repsected the fact that he has continued to explore the bounds of his music, and is not like some sad Three Dog Night retro tour.

good to know that his shows are not recycled hits from the 70's. His music was always far superior to the bubble gum crap that inundated the airwaves. Not surprised that he has grown and evolved as a musician.

...and he is male. You are probably thinking of David Palmer who was with the group in the 70's, and has since had a sex change operation and is now known as Dee Palmer. Dee is still arranging and performing music.

22. Monday, February 17, 1975. Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Drove up from Eau Claire with Daryl in the '7O Impala. Roadies let us get a view from behind the stage from where we could see Ian Anderson as he moved on and off stage. We watched the whole concert from there.

I'll never forget watching him as he would dance and sing behind the stage, between songs and sets, alone, with only Daryl and me secretly watching him. It was a pretty cool experience for a couple of teenagers who had spent many a fragrant hour driving aimlessly through the countryside of Northwestern Wisconsin listening to Jethro Tull...

teacher. Darma for one. the witches promise. heavy horses. living in the past. bouree. jack in the green. thick as a brick. aqualung. I always loved the mediaeval touch to alot of his songs. And the intellectual tone, loved it, he was much more complex than most of the other bands at that time. (oh and Zeppelin. Woo!! the ultimate!!)

yep in the 70's I decided I'd play flute like Ian. Too bad I never precticed. ;)

28. actually, I never paid attention to lyrics.

It was the instrumentation I went nuts for! The musical line..or whatever you call it...just the way that song melody loops around and about, very celtic, yet rock, yet ancient. I loved the way he tied that all together.

I just may have to go through my CD's (replaced the worn out vinyls; too many listenings with a quarter taped to the needle arm ;) )
