ideas for polite but pointed responses to gloating bushies?
you know who I mean, not just the blatant ones who are just begging for confrontation, but the ones who just say something like "so I guess your man lost, heh heh" or "So I guess bush is more popular than you thought". short of punching them in the mouth, what would be effective yet almost sweet and polite sounding to shut them up and make them think? something like, "well, I try to look on the bright side, Seattle traffic will get better the more out-of-work techies leave" or "Well, maybe global warming isn't such bad thing, Seattle sure could use a nice hole in the ozone right now don't you think? brrr" or, "actually, I kind of like being part of the immoral minority, it sounds like a cool frat club"

but something shorter and sweeter would be helpful, too.

I'm so looking forward to living under Biblical rule, how about you?

That ought to shut up the majority.

Don't let up. Especially if the person you talk to is a catholic, atheists or moderates.

23. Please don't lump catholics in with evangelicals
Trust me when I say that millions of Catholics state wide in Ohio voted for Kerry. Our local pastor, plus hundreds of others, went against directives from renegade Bishops and stated their support for John Kerry publicly during Sunday Mass two days before the election.

An under reported edict from the Vatican stated that if you were voting for Kerry only on the issue of abortion, that was wrong. However, if you supported Kerry on his policies regarding war, the economy, etc. you were encouraged to do so.

Bottom line? We Catholics do not trust evangelicals in the least. We know all too well that they would crush our faith if given the chance thus abolishing Catholicism nationwide.

34. Another Catholic Here!
I endorse what you say completely.

I will never trust the fundies/evangelicals. I will also never forget how ** went to bob jones university in '00 and did NOT call them to task for their belief that Catholicism is a cult. This is something that freakin' ALAN KEYES did!!!!!

We are soooo much different than the fundies! Of course, they don't think I'm a Christian because I do things like say "fuck", vote Democratic, respect gays the same way I respect any of GOD's children and consider my wife to be AT LEAST my equal (truth be told, she's my better. I definitely married better than she did!).

Many Catholics are horrified by wars based on lies, devastating deficeits (spelling?) and impending theocracy. I guess that I should be greatful that ** will save us from "hummasechels" marrying and Janet Jackson's tits!

As I said there..Most right nut cases, I do not allow to grow into a relationship , because I have nothing in common with them..Usually, their political values reflect their personal traits, I find.
How is this related to "Gloating Bushies." I often like to display my 'immormal minority' opinions. Particularily on my cars bumpers.
TO verbalize with these repukes is counter productive. They are often Fox clones, w/o a brain or critical thinking.
I would not argue with them..I often look in my mirror at right lights to see how some respond...
One that gets them..In my wacky town..I see "Bush the Liberator" how redicilious..I respond.
"Bush is a serial killer." that gets them.Looks like they are having a stroke.
but seriously..Just weeks ago when Iraq was going sour and before the "SwiftBoat Vetrans" distracted the Nation from Serious debate.Bush's polls were in the gutter. Fullujah and the pending civil war, American soldier's deaths, dollar devaluation..A nation going broke...
DOn't get your self in a dither...Soon your bumper sticker saying.
Don't blame me , I did not vote for Bush." will be a popular item.
Actually, Bush is in a good place. This time, since he is running the country into the ditch over his business'. No one will be there to bail out Bushie...That is justice, at all our well being- however.

Amazing how refreshing it is... the sadness faded quickly once I realized just how much hatred these two individuals espoused and eagerly supported. I don't need that in my life.

27. Patifified
As for me..IF I see some re-deeming quality in them, I do not unnecessarily confront them..We know to avoid the subject...
But, if they are the hateful types, I don't need that..
You know the strange thing about listening to repugs' , listen to them ..They re-inforce my ideals...They know we are being screwed by an unpatriotic international business element that is selling out the U.S....They know the US is going down...
I once told one of the more rational Republican friends who I bike with; You know I listen to you all and it convinces me I am right.
Most of them oppose international trade agreements,etc..
They just think some 'liberal , media, intelegencia is calling the shots....And they are non Christain heathens...
Talk about unreality...I don't confront where unnecessary. But the unbe-friended Repug. I enjoy pulling their chain, when I am thrown in with them..

Get back to me when:

1. We have a surplus again.

2. We have a net gain in jobs again.

3. We have the world's respect again.

4. We have our kids back from Iraq again.

Till then, STFU.

with supporting our soldiers. They just aren't enough in Iraq, we need a draft immediately. And it should be all people 18 to 34 with no exceptions and no deferments. Do you have children?

14. Go to your Local Army Recruiting Office
and get some of their business cards. When a fine upstanding conservative wants to chat hand him the card, offer to drive him down to the recruiting office. If he chooses not to take you up on your offer ask him if that is a sign that he does not believe in what he voted for. Now that conservatives have talked war its time for them to walk.

Also, ask him how he will vote when he is in the next group of Americans targeted by religious zealots for loss of civil liberties. Whom might that be? Beer drinkers? People who work on Sunday?

I understand the sentiment, but am kind of tired of being kind. I have rarely dealt with kind Repukes when they are gloating, which they must.

I say: Electing Bush was totally dumb and against your best interest, when you see it yourself, remember I told you so.
I also say other things :) I have lost a few customers so far :)

I have also said: It's not something I can discuss with you, because you don't know enough.

28. Well, most of the 'known Bushites' I've dealt with have ...
been mercifully silent about it around me, but I look like somebody who could be incredibly illogical if they pushed the wrong button, so I don't think they dare.

That being said, if I hear word one from any of them, I'm just going to say this:

"I'd rather look back and see that I was on the right side of history on this one than to be on the wrong side of an election. We'll all see what happens."

And when they can't afford their health insurance, or their jobs go to China or Indonesia, or their kids' schools suck because all the money's now going to the expensive religious school through the voucher system but they can't get their kids in because of the entry requirements ...

"Come on over to my house, I'll pour you a nice hot cup of shut the hell (or fuck, depending on who it is) up."

Simple, really. I'll be calm about it right now, but if I ever hear one of them gripe about any policy they should have known Bush would put in, I'm not gonna be nice about it.

Well, it looks like they can stop selling "Our Plan for America" since they don't have a real plan anymore.

(I was wearing my NYPD hat that I've worn since 9/11 so he may have thought I was an idiot like him.)

My response was, "Unfortunate, isn't it? I was hoping that we would finally have a president with some integrity and at least as much intelligence as a lawn jockey. No such luck, though. The idiots have spoken."

He turned around and walked off.
