Dane County Humane Society Runs Out Of Kitty Liter
'Kitten Season' Never Ended This Year
UPDATED: 5:53 pm CST November 8, 2004
MADISON, Wis. -- The Dane County Humane Society is hoping some cat lovers will help by dropping off some much needed litter and cat food ASAP.
http://www.channel3000.com/news/3901285/detail.htmlThe shelter is out of cat liter (unscented, unclumping), canned cat and kitten food and dry kitten food.
"We currently have 495 cats and kittens in our system," said Jodi Mergener of the Dane County Human Society. "We are in an urgent need mostly because our budget for the year is close to running out, and we can no longer afford to purchase these items."
Supplies are also running low because "kitten season" never ended this year.
"We've had a constant flow of many cats and kittens, so we have been using a little more than usual of litter and food," Mergener said. "Our numbers are the main reason we are in our position, along with the constant battle of the budget and trying to get in the same number of funds that we put out to keep the place going."
If you can help, drop off items at the Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, during business hours.
