Who Here Prefers To Wear Glasses Over Contacts?
On Nov.3rd, I got out of bed and accidentally stepped on my glasses. They broke, so I'm wearing contacts that my mother Fedexed over from home. It feels so weird to be wearing contacts, and I miss wearing my glasses. The comforting weight of my glasses are no longer there. I'm going to get a new pair on Saturday, so wish me luck!

1. Why
Why would you wear glasses on top of your contacts? :)

7. When you get older and farsighted as well as nearsighted
you wear your contacts and your cheaters for reading.

3. No contacts for me!
I like the feeling that my eyes are protected by shatterproof plastic. Plus I look good in glasses.

19. Never thought I'd hear someone say the same.
This is also why I won't switch to contacts - glasses are just fine.

I'm also horrified by laser eye surgery...don't get me wrong, it's great for everyone else, but it's not something I could consider!

32. I had Lasik done four years ago and it is the best thing I've ever done..
I can see when I wake up. No more contact cleaning. No more fumbling with glasses.

I know it is not for everyone, but I can not tell you how thrilled I am with my results.

6. I bought my first pair of glasses before I even needed them.
I had just seen the movie "Buckaroo Banzai" and bought red-rimmed glasses like he had in the movie.

Unfortunately they made me look more like Sally Jesse Raphael.

17. I can't wear contacts
at least when I tried them it was awful. With my astigmatism they had to be weighted on the bottom and would rotate when I blinked. It screwed me up when I read my music and annoyed the hell out of me when I read anything. Maybe they have changed but I like my glasses. I look good in glasses and have a really cool pair.

30. I don't need them yet, but I'm scared of wearing contacts
I don't think I could handle putting something on top of my eyeball like a contact. I'm almost 38 now and don't need any vision help yet, though I'm sure I will within 6-8 years based on my parent's experience.

I wish more women wore glasses - I've always loved women in glasses. I wish I could convince my wife to wear glasses instead of contacts.

34. I like and dislike them equally.
I'm blind without one of them, so it's kind of moot. Some days I feel like wearing my glasses and others I feel like wearing my contacts.

In my next incarnation, my vision will be better.

47. Great song by Kenny Howes
I like girls with glasses
I really don't know why
Sometimes 'cause they talk to you
Sometimes 'cause they're shy
All the girls I ever loved
Had trouble trying to see
I like girls with glasses
Guess there's something wrong with me!

and, all the girls I've ever loved had trouble trying to see as well... heck, my wife thinks I'm good looking, so I know she has trouble trying to see.

At least my first love wore glasses, though my wife and ex-wife hated wearing glases (and, no I don't like women in glasses because of my first love, I liked girls in glasses from when I first started liking girls...)

37. Contacts make my eyes itch
Plus I'm getting older, and have trouble reading while I'm wearing them (I read best with no glasses or contacts)

I'm afraid to have Lasik because I use my exceptional close-vision for jewelry-making, and I've heard you can lose your close-vision.

39. Me.
I've worn glasses since I was five. Forty-three years ago.

Switched to contacts for a few years in the 70s, at the insistence of my girlfriend at the time. The contacts were a disaster, as the relationship became also.

Back to glasses for me, and have worn them ever since.

42. Contacts were OK--but then my eyes changed.
My close vision without contacts is still perfect; with contacts (for near-sightedness), I need reading glasses for close work.

I might get some more contacts for special occasions, but my first priority is to get rid of that paper clip holding my glasses together.

A friend swears by Lasik but her vision was much worse than mine. I may eventually need cataract surgery, so I'll leave my eyes alone until then.

51. I've worn glasses since the age of 10
and even when contacts became available, I was too squeamish about my eyes to wear them.

Now I'm plagued with both nearsightedness and farsightedness, and no-line bifocals are ideal.
