I wonder how long we've got
I got my phone call after I had already voted. It said that I wasn't eligible to vote because my husband isn't a citizen. (Bullshit and I know it.) It also said that if I tried to vote, my husband would be liable to INS penalties.

Deportation? That wouldn't be so bad. They'd be paying to get him out of the country and I've got enough to pay for my ticket. But the INS has always had the power to put aliens into 'detention' for indeterminate periods of time without charges, without allowing legal challenges, without allowing visitors or even anyone to know where they are being held.

So I won't be surprised when the day comes that he doesn't come home from work and nobody will tell me what happened.

4. Whoever called you lied --
There used to be a law where women did lose their right to vote if they were married to a non-citizen -- but it was changed decades and decades ago.

I wonder how many people got calls just like yours?

Sounds like we've had massive vote suppression.

Kerry HAS to fight -- and expose all of this crap.

5. Yeah, I KNOW they lied
Plus the phone call came after I had already voted.

And it came on my cell phone. But you have to know that anyone who has ever said a bad word about Bush in public is in for a really rough time. Especially if you have anything that they can use to disrupt your life.

My husband's 31 years of law-abiding, tax paying residency isn't going to count for shit if they decide to use his status against me.
