My sweet Mariko.....The best friend I ever had.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 12:48 PM by liberal_veteran
Who could have imagined that this cute little thing 18 years ago....

Would turn into such a great friend?

Last night was first time in years I haven't woken up and had to move M'iko off my chest so I could get up and I miss her contented purring and excitement at seeing me when it was time to go to sleep at night.

Rest in peace, my dearest fur friend.

(Yeah, I am pretty depressed over losing her so unexpectedly. I figured she was just not feeling good because of she had an infection or something yesterday and took her to the vet and her blood work showed severe kidney failure and I decided to help her go peacefully and painlessly.)

3. how sad ...
I'm sorry for your loss, we have 3 cats, a pain at times, but oh how I'd miss them.

<hugs>

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

11. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I have an elderly dog and I'm dreading what is coming.

Our pets are such wonderful companions and friends, and losing them hurts so much. Mariko was a beautiful girl, and she was well-loved if that is any comfort. You take care.

19. My cat and Best Friend of 18 years, The rather round and
very Black and White Junior was poisoned. He went into Kidney Failure and my Mother had him Put down. I cried so hard for that little cat. He spent the first night of his life WAILING. He grew up to be a good cat, the kind I could dress up and walk in a baby stroller, without so much as him even looking at me funny. He was a wonderful boy, I can relate to your loss, and I am sorry for it. They are wonderful friends and when they die, they leave little paw print shaped holes on our heart. My Old man-Ace- is rapidly approaching 13 years old, and I can't imagine not having him with me.

21. (((((HUG)))))
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I feel like I know her from your sig line and your posts about her. Yes, you did the right thing (and I had to do the same with my 18 year old kitty earlier this year). My father had a beloved cat that died of kidney failure. He couldn't bear the thought of putting his friend down, but did in the end because poor Pippin was in so much pain. Thank goodness you let Mariko go before she ever came to that state. You are a wonderful kittydad, and she was blessed to have been yours (as you were hers).

25. I know the feeling
when I had to have my 14 year old feline baby L.B. put to sleep, I remember returning home and sitting on the couch in dead silence, wondering how it all could have ended so quickly. Then the blubbering started. It was weeks before I was myself again. Give yourself time. Mariko was as lucky to have you as you were to have her.
