West Wing questions
I watched the first couple seasons on Bravo but didn't watch last season, so I'm kind of in West Wing limbo because I have no idea what happened last year.

This season must be martin sheen's last season, right? who are the rep and dem nominees? has that started yet?

does martin sheen have a different vp now, too? what's up with that? who is the vp and what happened to matheson?

thanks!

1. Matheson resigned
at the end of the 3rd season (or the season when Zoe Bartlet was kidnapped) because he had been caught giving confidential information to a woman with whom he was having an affair.

2. I believe Jimmy Smitts will be the Dem running for Pres
and Alan Alda the republican nominee

Forgot the name of his current VP though.

3. Some answers
Bartlett is in his sixth year - so at least one more season (at least I think) I've seen every episode but sometimes its tough to place time.

Later this season the campaign starts - Alan Alda is going to be one of the runners. I saw him on a coming up clip announcing his candicay.

The previous VP resigned amidsmt a sex scandal. Then Bartlett's daughter was kidnapped by terrorists. Bartlett temporarily resigned while the VP office was vacant, because he didn't think he could handle both. The republican speaker was sworn in as president (John Goodman) The daughter was rescued and bartlett came back. He appointed a conservative dem from Colorado as VP (easiest confirmation).

At the end od last season a car bomb killed the retiring cheif of staff two congressmen and seriously injured Donna. This season has been going through the reaction to that mess.

I think thats it

7. I haven't watched in at least two years. Do you think
the show is still as good? I tuned out when they never really delivered on the promise of the impeachment brouhaha (I just remember a rain-soaked limo ride to "Brothers in Arms"). Then they kicked off the creator, right?

I tried to watch an ep or two during the John Goodman thing, but in general the "kidnapped daughter" thing felt forced and desperate. I liked what I saw of JG's performance, though.

By chief of staff do you mean the white haired guy with the sassy secretary (he's a recovering alcoholic)?

And how did they write off Rob Lowe's character?

10. Last night SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I may say so. The script was absolutely AWFUL. That whole exchange between the Israelis and Palestinians was thoroughly mawkish. Then that utterly contrived Friday night scene of the two sides doing their religious thing... feh. Worst was the capper to that segment when the blond national security lady said something like, "They're so much alike.." Gaaaah. :puke: Cue the harps.

I think the whole damn program's gone to hell since Sorkin bailed.

11. Still good - but not as good
Aaron Sorkin left I believe, the writing wasn't quite as snappy after that.

The kidnapped daughter thing did fell kind of forced. JG was very good in that role though.

The Chief of Staff was the white haired guy. Last night Bartlett fired him he dropped his AA medallion then wandered off into the woods and died - which was kind of lame.

Rob Lowe's character helped a dead guy when a congressional election in orange county then had to go out there to be in the recount election. They never came back to the story line though.
