Lunar eclipse due tonight

By Mark Prigg, Evening Standard
27 October 2004

Stay awake for long enough tonight and you will witness one of the sky's most amazing natural phenomena - a total lunar eclipse.

Visible across Britain, the eclipse is set to begin at 1.05am, with the moon totally eclipsed by 3:30am.

Total lunar eclipses happen when the full moon is in line with the Earth and moves into its shadow.

The moon will begin to re-emerge from the shadow at 4.44am.
