I have had an interesting morning.
Woke up with my nose completely stuffed up, my cold is worse than it was yesterday. But no matter how I was feeling I was going to go to work today. I took my shower, got shampoo in my eyes, so now my eyes & my nose are burning & running. I have all kinds of trouble finding something to wear to work, it's cold, but they tend to crank up the heat at my office so no heavy sweaters. I finally decide on my favorite dark brown, medium weight sweater to go with my brown slacks. I go to blow dry my hair & my blow dryer kind blows up. Sparks, flames, smoke! Burns a hole in my favorite sweater, blisters on my finger & stomach and now I have to buy a new hair dryer.
But do I stay home? NO! I am too responsible for that.
So here I sit, head pounding, nose running, blisters throbbing, with my sore throat & aching muscles, but I did not call in sick.

4. UGH, you and me both
I woke up with nasty gout today and still came to work. Of course, half of my job involves walking a lot. I just focus all my agony on Chimpy and it helps.

5. OK--Now I have to be firm with you
I know that we feel it is required in our society to put the needs of the workplace above our own-but you really do more harm than good if you go to work sick. Not only do you prolong your own recovery you increase the risk to those around you.

I know that it's frowned upon to be human in a work environment in our culture and we run risk of management scorn but SCREW THEM.

When you are on your death bed--Believe me you will not be wishing that you worked more!

9. The gates of Auschwitz
In a wrought-iron sign above the main gates to the Auschwitz concentration camp is a sign, when translated, which reads "Be glad you have a job, work will set you free."

10. I have to add to Wudette's affectionate chiding
You're going to be sick longer if you don't rest and in addition, it's likely you will infect others with you illness. You really ought to go home, mix a hot toddy and get on your home computer!
