I met Teresa Heinz Kerry tonight!
The GA State Dem Party and the Georgia Kerry/Edwards campaign gave a little volunteer appreciation party tonight at the state headquarters so a friend and I went. I'd say there were less than a hundred people there and some were doing the usual working things - stuffing envelopes and the like, but then there was just alot of mulling around until Mayor Shirley Franklin got there. She gave a short talk thanking people for working so hard and for us all to remind people to get out there and push early voting next week. She let everyone have their say and then she said does anyone else have anything to say and at that moment there was a rush of tall men in suits from the hallway and in walks Mama T! She was fantastic. She just spoke for 2 or 3 minutes but she moves some of us to tears. Then she went around the entire room and spoke to every single person in the room like each of us were the only ones there and she had no where else on earth she'd rather be. She is so gracious. She truly is a wonderful lady. Truly a class act. I can't wait for her to be my First Lady!

Thanks for letting me share.

1. I'm so envious!
I can't wait for her to tell it like it is for eight years in the WH.

2. congrats.. i'd love to meet her
I have to ask though, was she holding a beer bottle? You know how that means she is a horrible person and disqualifies her husband from office.

4. No beer bottles
Just tons and tons of class. She looked fabulous. We were just stunned. Georgia isn't exactly a swing state so the token visit we got from Senator Edwards a while back was all we thought we were getting. And this was a surprise visit. No forewarning.

I am a lucky little girl.

And out of all of them, she's the one I'd like to have a beer with.

6. you said she looked fabulous
Isn't she supposed to be about 65? You never guess that from looks alone. We need to find out what her and John Edwards secret is.

3. She's a very cool lady.
Why is it that the RW is so threatened by women who are strong people in their own right? First Hillary got endless shit for not being a doormat, and now THK is getting the same treatment. Buncha Neanderthals, I tell ya...

5. Don't you know women with their own ideas are dangerous?
I'm surprised the republicans haven't tried to forbid them from school. They seem to be afraid of women they can't control.

8. Wow, that sounds so awesome
I would give my big toe to meet Teresa...better yet, to have a BEER with her...two women, drinking BEER together, in public? Oh, the freepers would wet their pants in indignation.

Cheers to you, RubyDuby :toast:

9. I have a strange question
How tall is she? I can't really estimate comparing her to 6'4 John.

11. She's quite petite
I am 5'4" without heels and she was my height with heels on. She's probably about 5'2".

10. I love her...
she so reminds me of my mother who died unexpectedly at 64. I simply think she is beautiful, smart and very cool. But then again I like when people say try to express themselves honestly. THAT TIME she called herself a witch about child rearing and TV, my husband and I agreed it sounded like my mom. Someone who could crawl up in the nook of her husband's arm and shoot a gun if she had too. Anyway, the photos of her and John Kerry--especially the black and white ones seem almost poignant.
